Most work hard. Yes. But is there a trend?

The poverty rate for naturalized blacks is 11.8% compared to 25.1% for native born blacks

Education? The naturalized blacks doesn't read and write as well as the natives, and does not have the education levels.

    Just jumping in here but...

People are proud of ANYTHING that is part of your identity.

Are you proud of your high school? College?
Are you proud of the town/state you grew up in?

If you were born in another country, you proud of that country?
If your parents/grandparents immigrated here, you proud of that?

If you are in a civic organization, proud of that?

Anything that you identify with, it is human nature to have pride.

So, if you are black or have some sort of cultural identity, it is human nature to take pride in that.

...and it's silly to suggest that people should "ignore" race/heritage/culture. Instead, we should embrace and celebrate our differences. Being "PC" isn't about ignoring our differences ...it's about not saying stupid things about our differences. It's perfectly ok and normal to discuss our differences ...but it's not ok to be rude about it.

And the most ironic part of this thread is it is taking place in a Rockets message board. If the Rockets or Texans win a championship every board member here would be proud of their success yet they have absolutely nothing to do with winning that ring. Its a part of having civic pride of the city of Houston.

    Well said.

Do you refuse to work with a co-worker because they are a Cowboys fan?

You may laugh and joke about it ...but you would never actually treat that person as inferior. It's fun to make jokes about it. But it stops being fun if you make a personal attack and cross that line. Where is that line? It's hard to say ...but we all know it.

It's funny we all know how to NOT cross that line when discussing sports ...but so many people have a hard time figuring it out with race/culture.

This is a terrible example. I was tracking with you entirely until you got here. Cowboy fans are absolutely mouth-breathing inferiors.

Yes, and if you'd look at studies already done on this you'd see that there are certain groups that don't do as well in any society. It's true in Asia, the U.S., Europe etc.

People that have been enslaved, colonized, conquered, etc. have a harder time.

In the U.S. Hawaiians, Native Americans, Mexican Americans that were born here, especially in the Southwest do lower in school tests regardless of their economic status. Latino immigrants, African immigrants, etc. don't fall into the categories mentioned above. Whether the reason of that is seeing things as unfair, hopeless stacked against them can be argued, but those are the statistics.

Why are you ignoring the fact. That there is still discrimination when it comes to hiring blacks. It's been shown, and posted in this thread. As usual you ignore it and pretend it doesn't exist.

If you were really as good as trolling as you like to think you are, you wouldn't ignore posts that don't fit in with your pre-generated trolling garbage.

Immigrants are a self-selected population. The people that immigrate here are the ones that have the resources and drive to do so - they aren't your "average" person.

That is some absurdly bad "analysis". Have you considered that the people that have access to the $20 billion to send to Mexico every year might be the people NOT on welfare?

The top picture is plainly bigoted, by the way. Dark women holding young children aren't necessarily evidence of whatever your trillion percent chart is trying to document.

Exactly......immigrants are typically the "best of the best" from their respective nations who are looking to do better for themselves.

LOL some people really don't understand just how hard it is to pick up your entire life and move to another country.

Then we should allow more immigrants.

We can also step up our deportation of the unemployed.

I'm the son of an immigrant so I have no issues with it.

It is important to remember that there is a racial bias when it comes to immigration.

Deport the unemployed? To where? What kind of unemployed people would be deported (ethnic groups)?

Drive(figuratively) yes. You don't need resources to drive cabs.
