I know plenty of guys who aren't wealthy by most measures who have very attractive to even model looking girlfriends/wives. Believing wealth is one of the only ways to get highly attractive females is one of the biggest misconceptions in the men's community. Obviously money. helps a lot to meet the gold digger type, but that is not who you would really want to be with for a long time. You can find amazing looking women if you have a good personality, are funny and interesting and also well rounded in most aspects of life. In one of my first jobs, my boss told me he would always assess a trader based on how his wife/gf looks. If she was average to ugly, he would deem that guy to have low confidence or poor self esteem or simply was boring. Obviously, he didn't base hiring decisions solely on that fact, but he said over his years he would see a theme of confidence level with attractiveness of spouse.
Good point. But it's also choice that doesn't exist and doesn't explain our interest in OP's wife. Being rich tends to correlate with getting laid by super models. It's all about being able to provide for your own needs of food, shelter, clothing, and sex in a better way than the next guy is able to.
If I had billionaire status, I'd like to have 16 wives but not actually marry them so I guess 16 live in girlfriends. Livin' la vida arabian. Also, I'd have tryouts and switch them out every year like power dancers and cheerleaders. That's all.

I remember that scene in Moneyball where the guys are talking about a prospect and wouldn't consider him because he had an ugly wife. In the business world it definitely helps to have an attractive wife and unfairly or not, men are judged and trusted by this. Not sure if it has more to do with knowing that he's confident or merely because they like having his wife around to admire. If you see an OK looking dude with a smoking hot wife it definitely changes your perception of him. If it's opposite it's the same thing. With women I don't think it applies as much, it's a lot more rare to see an unattractive woman with an attractive man.
In some countries girls are also allowed to use google boxes and they might be the ones looking up the competition.
