    ANY IDEAS CLUTCHFANS?
Assuming we are heading toward climate change induced species die off what could we do in an emergency? I think that we must hope to get lucky with a temporary disaster so drastic that the skeptics and the global elite as a whole get totally scared ****less for themselves or at least their kids or grand kids.
    1) a tech fix would probably be necessary. I like lunarsolar the best of the tech fixes.

    2) but tech fix aside, A government state of emergency to mobilize tens or even several hundred million to work ceaselessly to to things like paint all roofs and roads etc.white to reflect heat or plant hundreds of millions of trees to soak up co2.

Is wartime mobilisation a suitable policy model for rapid national climate mitigation?

    Abstract:
Climate science suggests that, to have a high probability of limiting global warming to an average temperature increase of 2degC, global greenhouse gas emissions must peak by 2020 and be reduced to close to zero by 2040. However, the current trend is heading towards at least 4degC by 2100 and little effective action is being taken. This paper commences the process of developing contingency plans for a scenario in which a sudden major global climate impact galvanises governments to implement emergency climate mitigation targets and programs. Climate activists assert that rapid mitigation is feasible, invoking the scale and scope of wartime mobilisation strategies

Haven't Russian scientists said we are now going into a 200-250 year cooling period?

Too many disparate and varied possible impacts in different parts of the country/planet to implement policies that aren't contradictory and don't therefore have compounding costs. In a roundabout way this is one of the underlying and politically compelling arguments on behalf of climate change skepticism.

Off the top of my head. If we reach the true emergency stage. it would be like something out of a scifi novel, which I assume to have been written.

    1) air conditioning banned except for documented health emergencies and perhaps only in health centers.

    2) 5 gallons of gas per family per week and maybe per month as the crisis deepens.

    3) conversion of car and tank factories to train and bus and bike factories

    4) school during moderate weather times and during daylight hours. during the extended vacations older kids will be put to work on retrofitting the world.

    5) a civilian climate conservation corp of millions or tens of millions to employ those who lose work as their jobs disappear. They will paint things white and plant trees and build bike paths or work in solar cell factories or fan factories or plant gardens or help elderly neighbors open windows or grow chickens or carry groceries ten blocks home etc.

One of the advantages to a tech fix is that we could potentially harness major corporations who could make money on the fix, to lobby for their new opportunities instead of the present in which generally small underfunded citizen's group lobby and try to educate while opposed by the massive energy companies, who much like the old tobaccos companies, working to confuse and delay public recognition of their product's dangerous consequences.

Japanese Corporation Plans to Turn the Moon Into a Massive Solar Power Plant

Man hasn’t been back to the moon since 1972, but that hasn’t stopped a team of Japanese engineers from developing a plan to turn our celestial neighbor into a massive solar power plant. The disaster at the Fukushima nuclear power station has made Japan think more seriously about alternative energy, and as a result Shimizu Corporation‘s crazy plan has been gaining traction. The plan calls for a massive 12 mile-wide, 6,800 mile long “Luna Ring” of solar panels to be constructed on the moon’s surface. The solar belt would then harness solar power directly from the sun and then beam it straight to Earth via microwaves and lasers

    Are you freaking kidding me?

Assuming that our society eventually reaches some stage where it's utterly and totally imminent to do something about climate change or we will all DIE ( and that's pretty much what you'll need for anyone to propose what you're supporting, glynch)....you aren't going to mobilize the resources of the country to ****ing open windows and build bike paths. Seriously, glynch, this is like every r****ded right-wing fantasy about what the evil left wing utopia will be like.

This is nothing short of insanity.

You "hope" to get "lucky" with a "temporary disaster" (whateverthe****thatis) that will scare people ****less?

Someone who's not insane would read this thread and think you are hoping for many people to die so that the survivors may agree with you on the issue of climate change.

Thank god you're just some random dude on an internet forum and that your nonsense is so obvious that no one could ever be taken in by it.

    Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

So no more Air Conditioning, change to the way school is handled, factories of war start making bikes, people employed to open windows and paint things white...

I was going to say you had to change your shorts after that post but then I realized you didn't mention Israel being destroyed or everyone giving up their wealth. So it wasn't a total wet dream for you.

This makes as much sense as people at Fox News who said that maybe Canada needed its own 9/11 to understand just how serious terrorism is. No, thanks.

Wow!! No idea we had so many man made climate change deniers on the bbs.

Now the libertarians and economic conservatives understandably just freak as virtually any solution will require government action.

There's a slight difference between "government action" and "Wolt ihr den totaler krieg"

Are you that conceited to believe that everyone who disagrees with your views on climate change must be a denier and a libertarian/conservative?

If glynch visits Kay, yes, you should evacuate. Lest he decide a "temporary disaster" is needed to get you to agree with him on something.

You are not talking about government action. You are talking about government taking over factories and rationing goods and services. It is a huge difference.

wow! such insane extremism to suggest these things as possible responses to a climate change emergency.

Thinking about climate change? Lighten up. It can ruin your whole morning.
