I have always wondered if I was in theclique. I never got a membership card or phone call. So I have two questions:

    1. Do those that are in the clique see me as being there with them?
    2. Do tose not in the clique see me as being in it?

In regards to newbies and their ilk. Well, there are a lot of newbies that are worth a chewing gum wrapper. There are some who become good. That is life. If someone is an idiot, then they don't deserve thought out responses.

As to my own experience, I don't ever remember feeling like a newbie in regards to how people treated me. Of course, that was another time, before .net. There were, however, still bad newbies then. I actually had a problem in the beginning with posting things that were general BBS related in the Rockets forum. I was treated kindly, though, because everyone knew that I was a genius.

I have no comment about specific posters in this thread.

rimbaud just may be the overall smartest guy here. Basketball wise he isn't as close as oelipere or crispee. Those guys are front and center on b-ball info....However, there is a certain mannerism and style in his posts which suggest this to be true. Just don't overdue the self indulgence rimmy ;) ...btw, what did YOU think about Unbreakable?

    Behad,

So, I guess I am not in, then. Don't play your snobbish "there is no clique" games with me!

    DREAMer,

I have and always will be what I am. If you really need me to hate for a little while, just email me and I will start a post to get you in an argument. :)

    Roxran,

Thank you for you kind words, however do not assume that just because I do not mire myself that much in the swamp that is the Rockets forum that I am behind heypartner and pops (although I cannot compete with his sources) in basketball smarts. :)

    Overdue self indulgence? Me?

In regards to Unbreakable...I knew the ending about an hour or so before it came. For a movie whose sole purpose is the twist at the end, this was disappointing. He tried too hard to make another Sixth Sense while still trying to be different. To me, it was just a gimmick movie. Additionally, its pacing was tediously slow. This may have been the intent, as Willis was supposed to be an "ordinary guy" superhero, but it did not make for a compelling movie experience. Even worse when compounded with the fact that I was just waiting for the ending to hurry up and show me what I already knew.

So, I will not say it sucked, but I would not reccommend it, nor will I ever watch it again. Night pressed some audience buttons with his first big movie, but if he continues making similar, derivative movies, then he will continue to be a gimmick artist, akin to an Abstract Expressionist 50 years after the movement died.

A thread that should be applauded, Behad. But from what I've seen it's often the exception rather than the rule. Although...it was titled 'Meaningless thread', which is like painting a big target on your forehead and dancing before a firing squad. :D A smart move on crossover's part, actually.

The boards are fairly clean right now, history-wise, so I can't really post examples. Maybe it's improving? But like three said, it sometimes felt at first his posts were 'thread killers'. You don't have to agree with me, I know. But I've been reading/lurking a long time, and that's just the view I've formed from what I've seen.

    rimbaud,

I never really hated you, "loved to hate" is just an expression. Plus, I added the :p

I've always enjoyed sparring with you, because you are the closest this board has to offer when it comes to my super-intelligence.

Excuse me while I go massage my brain sack.

Ah yes, if it isn't our resident biggot and racist, MrSpur ! I heard that David Duke is speaking at a luncheon today...maybe if you hurry, you'll be able to see him!

I should have included you in this poll, but then no one else would get any votes!:p

You need to read my thread, "Something to Ponder", because dude, you have some serious hate inside of you. You need to do something about that because it is not healthy.

Until I see something from you that is not hate-driven, I can't help but remember the greatest quote that I have ever seen here by Rocketman95, "You're not on my ignore list, you're on my idiot list"

I just heard this announcement. The clique will be posting a formal list of members, rejects & wannabees so that we all will know where we stand...

My thought is that if you have to ask, you're probably either a reject or a wannabee...

Hopefully, you're like me and it just isn't that impotent (umm important) to you...

I have to stick up for Unbreakable. I was very pleased by it's simplicity. In this day and age of CGI and complex pyrotechnics, this movie had me believing in Willis' super powers, as well has Jackon's frailty (the scene where he falls down the stairs always makes me cringe) without using any special effects -- just compelling story and acting. It's the same thing I liked about Sixth Sense.

And I don't necessarily think the "sole purpose" of the movie was for the trick ending as a lot of the movie (and many of the best scenes) dealt with Willis' relationship with his wife and son. But I do think that the most powerful message was found at the end when Jackson's character says something like, "Do you know what the scariest thing is? Not knowing your place in this world. Now that we know who you are, I finally know who I am." I think the question of "place in this world" is very common for a lot of people, and I felt very sad for Jackson's character who went to such hideous lengths trying to define himself using comic books as his paradigm (hero/villian).

I also enjoyed the slow pacing, which was necessary for the dramatic tension to build, and in even seemingly simple scenes, there is a lot going on in the periphery and the subtext (I especially liked the hospital scene where, in the foreground, while Willis and the doctor are speaking, a bandaged patient slowly and subtly begins bleeding to death). I think Night tells a wonderful story.

As far as cliques go . . . eh.
