Who's the purest shooter in Rockets franchise? - I say Rudy T, matt bullard, Brent price What's y'all think ?
Near the top of the list would have to be Kenny and Bull. However, I place Murphy above them all. Murphy was all but retired by the time the 3pt shot rolled around. However, his career shooting % is something like 50%. That is absolutely amazing for a guy that shot that far out and that was that short. Amazing.

To me a PURE shooter is a mold of a Ricky Pierce, Eddie Johnson, or Jeff Malone type guy. Reid, Kenny, Purvis and Mike Woodson were all streak shooters. Pierce could stroke night in and night out. So could EJ in his day. Robert Reid as I recall had the rep of "he has to hit his first shot"
Your saying Ricky was not a shooter? Granted I didn't follow his career THAT much, but it seemed like he always made the Rox his little girls.
It has to be Calvin. The has the record for FT shooting. He was 5'10" and had a HOF career. The guy did not miss when he was open.

I'd say Calvin just cuz I love the guy, but even though he was past his prime on the Rockets, Glen Rice has to be considered - him or Murphy.
Six posts since 2001. Geez man, post more. I agree with you. The Rockets haven't been a "pure shooting" type team, nor have they ever had an abundance of pure shooters. We've always tried getting the pure shooters by way of draft - Doug Lee, Steve Harris, Dave Jamerson. We also tried to get some pure scorers/shooters (probably because they always ate us alive) via trade - Sleepy Floyd, Mike Woodson, World B. Free and Purvis Short. Lew Lloyd wasn't a pure shooter. He was a hell of a scorer, though. He and Mitch Wiggins ran the fast break better than possibly any other non-PG Rocket. Robert Reid wasn't a pure shooter. Kenny Smith and Matt Bullard were just people that stood outside and gunned open 3's for the most part. We've been blessed with having some of the best big men to play the game, but have been cursed when it comes to PG's and shooters (no offense to Calvin Murphy!). By the way, mkahanek, the guy that I considered one of the greatest pure shooters to ever touch a basketball - Dale Ellis. He was flat out sick when he had his shot going.
Calvin Murphy. For a period of seven years, 49% or higher FG%. Averaged 20+ for most of them. Best year? 25ppg!
