    no brainer, Brandon Roy :D

just kidding, it's definitely the Rapist and it ain't even close.. Melo comes in as a distant second and Wade at 3.. I use the Rockets as my standard: the players we can't stop are at the top, the guys who we can stop (I'm looking at you, ZERO assists guy!) don't cut it for me ..

As someone said about time and Tmac, I'd like to add Baron Davis to that "fell off so damn quick" list.. He was absolutely unstoppable a couple of years ago in Golden State, I would've ranked him just second to Kobe back then.. He punished the top ranked Mavs so badly and almost took care of the Jazz. One of the most underrated and well-rounded Point guards of all time, he has the outside shot, he has the ability to post up smaller guards (80% of guards), he has the killer combo of strength and quickness to drive the lane and finish in traffic/draw the foul, and he is so damn clutch.. What he did to the Mavs and his famous dunk on "Kirilenko's flat-top" earned him my utmost respect.. What a player he would've been hadn't it been for all the injuries, and then this year he just faded into nothingness on this cursed Clippers team. If only we could know for sure that he'd get over his health issues, I would freaking love to have him running point on this team..

    Tracy McGrady.

He has been by far the most offensive player this year to the Rockets.

Until one of those guys eclipses his 81 point game it's Kobe.

Come on, wasn't it Yao Ming? He was supposed to be "the best player in the league", right? No one past 7'5" is ever as good as Yao Ming. ;)

His team also depends on him more then it does Kobe.

Look beyond the stats. Who would you rather have to win the game?

I would say that Kobe is clearly the most skilled offensively. He does everything you can do. Melo has some of the same skills he is just more effective in the post because a) he weighs more and b) he is stronger. I don't think that makes him anymore skillful. Similarly, Lebron has the same ball handling and penetration skills but his strength and size make him impossible to keep out of the paint.

I've said it before but I think Kobe is the least physically gifted of any wing superstar I've ever seen. He's not the strongest, he's not the longest, he doesn't jump the farthest, and he's not the quickest. He is a superstar because of his skill not athleticism. I'm not saying he's un-athletic but there are plenty of non-stars on with the same physical gifts.

They need 2 awards in the league. MVP doesn't cover enough bases. It should go to the player who is indeed the most valuable player to his team i.e. helps the team go far and without him the team would be a nothing --> Lebron.
The second award should be for the best offensively skilled player--> Kobe. Scoring champion doesn't cover this. This one would be based on offensive efficiency (not D-Wade taking pretty much all of his team's shots to score high). Kobe no doubt has the best skills and should be recognized for it.

THEN, we should make an award for D-Wade too :D

Its Carmelo, no contest. He reminds me of the Orlando TMac. Even on a team loaded with offensive weapons, the dude drops 30 easy.

The major thing Kobe has over Melo is mental. A couple of missed shots and his game goes downhill.

You guys got to look at it not from what a person can and may do in one certain game but what they are actually capable of. Sure Kobe doesn't get assists because he may be a little selfish(possibly an emphasis on little lol) but you know he can pass and dish out some sick dimes.

I put kobe over lebron because I believe he has an unlimited set of moves and combinations from anywhere on the court. He'll take you in the post if you're smaller then you, maybe even give you the spin cycle or some other move or blow by you/put you on your heels and jay you if you're too slow.

Lebron may be catching up with the jay but kobe's is still in another world of clutch and I don't really see him ever post up even though he is such a big body. Even though he is skilled he relies more on brute strength and speed than technique and skill which I wonder what will happen when he ages and slows down but that's another story.

I give it to the mamba...for now

Kobe has a sick mid range game but I seldomly see him post anyone up and he doesn't even get to the rack as much as he used to. Kobe essentially has one main move which is drive, stop on a dive and shoot with a hand in his face. That one move is almost unstoppable but there isn't that much variety to his game.

I don't think Melo is a better player than Kobe or LBJ, I just think he is more skilled. He can do more with the ball from more places on the court.

    Top 5 IMO:

    Kobe
    LeBron
    Melo
    Dirk
    Wade

Dirk and 'Melo are interchangeable though, depending on how hot Dirk is that game.
