for me it is Pippen without a doubt, i hated him when he played in chicago, so i didn't want him to come to Houston. i hate him for tripping in game 1 against the lakers that year, how could he choke that bad? i also coudn't stand maloney. now i like every rocket. i think on this board Moochie cuttino kelvin and stevie are hated most. i like them al, (ok maybe somethimes i dislike moochie.
Pippen......He was so negative here. He just didnt fit well with our offense or our organization in general.
Was Pip ever truly a Rocket? Not in my eyes. I guess I'd go with Maxwell. He quit on the 95 team. Unforgivable.
For me, it's gotta be: 1) Scottie Pippin (who the helk has the name 'Scottie' as an adult??) 2) Vernon Maxwell . The guy, as talented as he was, was a punk, first and foremost. I still blame him for that loss against the Sonics in the playoffs. 3) Rick Barry. Has there ever been a more condescending jerk in the history of organized sport? (Ok, well, maybe yes, BUT, he is wayyy up there.) 4) Buck Johnson. Gawd nothing made me want to tear my own head off more than hearing Bill Worrell yell 'The Blade!' .. 5) Sleepy Floyd. When one of your guards actually shoots well and scores a few points in a game, it's not SUPPOSED to be cause for celebration. 6) Sam Mack. Never have I seen a guy with less talent shoot more times and cause more losses. Plenty others, including those dang cokeheads who scuttled the franchise in the 80's .. but the above dudes are the ones who I would not ever like to lay eyes on again.. ciao
1. Cocaine 1A. Lucas, Lloyd, Wiggins Who knows how much of a difference Lucas could've made in the '86 Finals or what the Rockets could've done in the next 4-5 years with those 3 clean and sober? I'm glad Luke finally got his life together and makes more important contributions to society today. Anybody know whatever happened to the other two?
No, but I'm sure people here have some pictures that may explain. *ahem* photoshop *cough*. Excuse me.
Lloyd and Wiggins were both reinstated to the Rockets some time in the late 90s. I remember that Wiggins had a pretty decent season when he came back and averaged 16 pts or so. Lloyd seemed really out of shape and didnt have the same explosiveness that he did before. They both left after that 1 season. I wanna say they both went to the same team, Washington or Philly and played 1 more year or so and were out of the league after that.
It was weird when Wiggins came back. He went from being a great defensive guard to a very good offensive player. I guess crack does that to you.
1. i gotta say vernon maxwell made me more angry than any other rocket. he abandoned this team during the second run. he would have been an awesome 6th man if he kept his head in the game. defensively he was very good. But I hate him. 2. Snottie Pippen. He lost the Laker series. I think he consciously faked a choke or something. He looked awful out there. 3. Moochie "I can dribble" Norris . Nothing this past yr was more painful than watching him dribble out the shot clock. Those are my top three. Other dishonorable mentions include: John Lucas Mitch Wiggins Tito Maddox Brent Price Bryce Drew
Pippen...no doubt. someone said vernon maxwell...are you freaking crazy?? that guy hits the game winner to clinch game 7 and the rockets first championship...yes, he walked out on the team the next year...but you can't take 94 away...he was nails that year and a big part of why we won. we would have never made it past phoenix without him that year.
it asked who was the most hated not who sucked as a rocket. No one can argue what he (vernon maxwell) did for the team but I hate him for bailing on his teammates.
Whoever hates Max is not a true Rockets fan, I'm sorry. Down 0-2 after blowing two 20 point fourth quarter leads at home on the road in Pheonix down by 16 at the half, MadMax explodes for 24 second half points to lead the Rockets to victory. And the rest is history. The guy sparked Clutch City and finished it off with the Game 7 three against New York. Without Madmax, no Clutch City, period.
Yup, including the next year when he quit on his team in the playoffs, when we needed him the most. What if we hadn't won the 2nd championship, would you feel the same? I'm not calling anyone out, I'm just asking.
Yes, I would feel the same way, the 1st championship is special for reasons beyond the Rockets for the city of Houston IMHO. The second championship was nice, and in hindsight, I probably took it for granted, but there will never ever ever ever be a feeling for me like the first, being a Houston sports fan more than a Rockets fan. And BTW, they didn't need him that much, which put more strain on the relationship between him and Rudy. He wouldn't have contributed that much if he had remained a quiet soilder.
barkley was one of the best post passers of his era. in fact, he passed more than the greatest rocket of all time. so, while the rest of your post has merit, this comment is just plain wrong.
what??? john lucas has done so much for the community. getting kids off of drugs is far from stupid or selfish. the man made his mistakes, learned from them, and has taken that knowledge and given it to others. to criticize him for doing such a noble act is ridiculous...no, it's just plain stupid.
I haven't seen anybody writing something good about Moochie Norris yet. But I have to say that Mo Tay is wrongly hated.
I was a fan of maxwell before he walked out on the team. he had awesome ability but i hate him nonetheless. He could have played several more yrs after drexler retired.
