When he walked into the room it was like "wow" that is a guitar legend (it helps that he inspired me to start playing the guitar). Phil Collins was cool as well even if I'm not a very big fan (he was really famous at the time).
YAY Mike Wilks!!! =) Okay, I really didn't meet him, but here's a nice picture of his rear =p It looks more believable on the actual polariod =( I also met and took a picture with David Wesley after his interview [Utah game] but my friend still hasn't uploaded the photos yet. Saw Mo Taylor at the mall.. wasn't too friendly. Saw and waved to Van Chancellor after the Utah game. Having met Clutch, my main goal this season is to meet MiniClutch =)
I used to work local concerts...sometimes I was lucky enough to meet some of the bandmembers backstage during the hours before the show....sometimes they were even cool enough to hang and talk for a few minutes... Actually talked to: Snake and Sebastian from Skid Row All the members of Metallica(before they sold out)..actually sat and had a beer with them in catering after the show in the Summit Suzy Boggus Hank Williams Jr The Kentucky Headhunters Frank Hannon and Tommy Skeoch from Tesla Queensryche Dimebag Darrell Karen Duffy(sp?)(was going by Duff while a VJ with MTv) Exchanged greets with in passing: Geddy and Alex from Rush Zakk Wylde Vivian Campbell (while with Def Leppard) Phil Collins Glen Danzig Rob Zombie Dave Hill from Skid Row Layne Staley(sp?) with Alice in Chains and just recently, got to stop and talk to Keith Jones at the end of the ROckets Run the morning of the JAzz game... hey chase.....was that the tour that Genesis was out at the old blimp base on 45 doing rehersals for like a month before the tour started? I was working on their stage out there...and that is where I got to meet both Duff and Phil while futzing aroung on the inside stage...
oh...i almost forgot. i don't know why - but my mindset on the first page was definately not naming the hotties i've met. i met mandy moore when she was shooting "saved" in surrey, bc -- about half an hour away from where i live. and i met kristin kreuk during the first season of smallville - this was before it ever aired and when it was a "small" production. a buddy and i got to have dinner with her in her trailer during one of her breaks. really sweet/hot chick. and back to the other people i met - dunno if you guys know them or not...but i've decided to say the lesser known famous people now... damon allen - quarterback of the toronto argo's. his daughter went to my HS when he played for BC Lions. He almost ran over me with his truck one day. i also gave him my autograph. my friend impregnated his daughter. ben carson - famous surgeon. i spoke to him for about 20 minutes and played b-ball with his kids. don cherry - hockey night in canada guy. one of my friends is his niece. just met him briefly.
Used to go to school with Natalie Portman. Met her briefly once. Otherwise all the other famous people I've met are academics.
Met John Sayles (one of my favorite directors) at a bar in Austin (Black Cat I think). A friend of mine recognized him because he had worked with him on his first movie (Pirahna) which was filmed just outside of Austin. He brought him over and said "Hey I want you to meet John Sayles." As I shaking his hand I realized it was THAT John Sayles. I think he was scouting music at the time. Seemed like a very nice guy. Molly Ivins at a book signing. Saw Lou Reed on the street in New York. Marcia Ball backstage after a show.
So... let me guess... the female in the pictures is you? Nice hair, then. If it is not you, nice hair on the female on the photos. I had a picture of DREAM with me, but the fool here at the MultiMedia lab destroyed the digital camera memory card...

He was nice, funny as hell, and liked to drink whiskey. He wore his cape onstage but not offstage. He was always checking out the ladies and would often stop a conversation dead in it's tracks to check out a fine lady walking past him. My old band in Los Angeles (The Scraps) opened for him three times at the Palomino in North Hollywood from about 1991-1994, and I got to spend some time with him each time. He asked for us specifically in his contract the second and third times. One of the nicer celebs I've ever met.
This is an intersting thread, I have met people that many consider famous, but I just don't buy into all of that, never ask for an autograph, and always just think people are people. So, I really don't pay too much attention to it. Let me think about it a bit and come back with a list....... DD
Listed randomly: KRS ONE Kim Deal Carroll Dawson Colin Quinn Warren Moon Paula Poundstone Luther Campbell Nicole Sullivan & Will Sasso (Mad TV, worked w/ 'em) that's all that come to mind
I havent met too many famous people but I did meet Jesse Jackson when he was at my church in 5th ward a long time ago. I also met Sheryl Swoops when she did a basketball camp at North Harris College a few years ago. She seemed a bit stuck up though.
i can agree to some degree. that's how i am with actors and actresses. i don't really care. but it's sports ppl that i can't contain my excitement and i have to go and talk to them. they prob hate it tho. i also saw maroon 5 two yrs ago at Numbers (the second time i've ever seen matt maloney was this day too) and got pics with them.
