Pierce Brosnan... (sp?) (in Paris) Hakeem the Dream Olajuwon. (in Saudi) sir CHarles Barkley (in Sugar Land) Drayton Mclane. (at MMP)
In Austin after a show in 1988. He and the Edge played at Antone's with Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimmie Vaughn, Eric Johsnon, Dr. John, Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon. They just got up and jammed for about an hour. There were about 50 people there and Larry & Adam were in the crowd dancing. I talked to Bono and the Edge briefly and got their autographs. Bono was really nice. He was concerned because he had been handed a pen to sign things on his way out by one of the autograph seekers and he wanted to make sure she got it back. That always struck me as pretty damn genuine and polite.
I met the elder George Bush (and four members of the Secret Service) ten years ago or so at the Oshmans in the Fountains (Sugar Land).
I worked for Jerry Brown when he ran for president in 92. He slept on a futon on the floor at my house. During that visit I drank with him, Boston mayor Ray Flynn and Jack Germond of the McLaughlin group at Keneally's. Also met Jesse Jackson during that visit. While working for Brown at the Dem convention in NY, I drove him to Joan Didion's apartment and met Don Novello (Father Guido Sarducci) who was a Brown delegate. Interviewed Molly Ivins for a book review/interview in the Houston Press. She kissed me on the lips. Flirted all night with Marissa Tomei (post-Different World, pre-movie career) at an Off-Broadway cast party. Drank with Grant Show (Jake from Melrose Place) after a performance of Wit on Broadway. Booked a lot of semi-famous bands at Catal Huyuk in the early nineties. UK Subs and Medeski, Martin and Wood (I booked their first Houston show) stayed the night at the club and we partied a lot. Also booked Bad Brains. Partied past sun up with David Berman (Silver Jews) and his wife. Partied past sun up with David Cross. Drank with Griffin Dunne. Also met Roger Daltrey, Iggy Pop and Ric Ocasek (not at the same time) while living in NY and Ryan Adams when Whiskeytown played the Satellite. My friend Caitlin was his fiddle player. While waiting tables in NY I counted among my regulars Frank Langella, Steven Berkoff (Victor Maitland from Beverly Hills Cop and also a fine playwright), B.D. Wong, Justine Bateman and Screw magazine publisher Al Goldstein. Lots of Houston sports figures. I used to deliver Earl Campbell's paper to him when I was about 8. And Ken Kennard (anyone remember him?) babysat me once. I met most of the Rockets (at the time) and Gene Peterson when I snuck into Pippen's press conference at Westside. Have met Rudy a few times and had a pretty good chat with Jim Boylen at Tien Ren. One of my closest friends is Jim Parsons, major Rockets fan better known as the wolf boy in the Quizno's commercial -- the guy that suckles the wolf's teat. He was also the knight in Garden State and he's a regular now on Judging Amy. I directed him in about ten plays back in the 90s. And another close friend will soon be known to all Bob Dylan fans, though I can't say anything more about that now. I'm sure there are more but that's all I can remember for now.
I had drinks with Another Brother here in Brownsville! We hosted a tournament w/ Milby attending and Alton Ford chilled with us in the coaches office.(too bad he hasn't done anything since) Jay Novacek Robert Newhouse William Shatner Emmit Smith at Louie's Backyard on the SPI George W. Bush was the speaker at my sisters HS graduation when he was governor. Didn't actually meet him, but I was 20 yards from him.

Joseph Kahn. Music Video director, and movie director. He directed the great movie, Torque.... Supposedly doing a live action Transformer, and supposedly The Crow, Hip Hop Version. He's done music videos for Britney Spears, such as Toxic, and uh that one where she is wearing that red thing, I think Crazy or something like that. He was originally suppose to do the I did it again debut song of BSpears, but she nixed the idea because of some cheese factor, such as dancing robots, and **** like that. She felt it would make her immature, and kiddy, and what not. Damn You Jo, you could have ruined her career. He's done a few Moby videos, a few U2 videos, a few Papa Roach, Korn, DMX, Eminem, Black Eyed Peas, and uh, Backstreet Boys. He is not allowed to do NSync Videos because he is exclusive to Backstreet Men. link
Talk of videos reminds me I also met Bushwick Bill. He was shooting a music video in the building where I was rehearsing Guys and Dolls. He stopped by and watched rehearsal for about a half hour. Nice guy. Kind of short.
