Hold on hold on hold on.

"enlightened types"? Evil f***ers? C'mon Batman people can disagree with you politically and not be evil, stupid, redneck yokels. I like to conisder myself at least somewhat civilized. I even use silverware when I eat and have indoor plumbing! It scares me sometimes though, seeing as how I'm just a poor ignorant caveman Republican (yes, that's sarcasm, I know how difficult it can be to tell over the internet).

By the way, you say "David had a natural disposition against Houston, yes, but he set it aside to do his act." Yet in your earlier post you say, "He lit into the crowd early for giving Bush a pass and they booed him. He was waiting for that kind of reaction in Houston ...". It sounds to me like he was baiting people into being vocal with him so he'd be able to justify his preconceived notions about Houstonians.

Now I like David Cross as an actor. His guest stints on shows like "Just Shoot Me", the "Men In Black" movies, etc. are all hilarious. I don't need someone accusing me of being a hatemonger because of a political difference of opinion, no matter how funny he may be on camera. Political acumen is not always proportional to how much someone agrees with you.

I'm from Lebanon, PA home of Sam Bowie and Kerry Collins. Met them both.

Bowie was cool. Chatted with me a little bit, signed an autograph.

Collins was a jerk. I said hey Kerry, what's happenin? And he just blew me off and was like leave me alone. I never liked that dude..

But Sam Bowie was really cool. I've seen him arounda few times.

In 1993 I met Dennis Miller. He was just at the bar at the MGM Grand right outside the showroom where he was about to do a show and we had tickets. This was the pre-911 Dennis who I thought ws the coolest guy on Earth.

The intersesting part of the story though is that when he found out I was from Houston all he wanted to talk about was how we could let the Oilers leave town. He loved football, and, as we now know went on to make history as the loudest thud ever heard in sports entertainment.

I guess the most famous was Johnny Rogers. I saw Dr. J shopping once but I didn't go bother him.

David's a part time actor; full time comic and social critic (a la Bill Hicks, Lenny Bruce, Richard Pryor). I agree you don't "need" someone of accusing you of anything, but that's actually his full time job. This isn't Sean Penn or Tim Robbins or someone who's using his acting fame to get political. David Cross started political and got picked up as an actor from there. If Ralph Reed or James Carville turned out to be successful entertainers on the side, would they lose their right to express their political beliefs? In America? Maybe a few years down the line (the trend's easy to spot), but not just yet.

And that's gonna be it for me in here I hope. I still like to get my Rockets news from here rather than the Chronicle. I'm not looking to get kicked out of any more forums.

I also met Booker T. on one of those tram link buses from a pay parking lot to Bush Intercontintal Airport. This was about 2-3 years ago. I got his autograph....and he was really cool.

I met W when he was Governor of Texas but campaigning for the Republican nomination for President. He was also really cool....he came across as a very genuine guy, laid back and nice. I got his autograph.

I met Ice Cube on a flight from Houston to Austin when I was in high school in the early '90s. I got his autograph. He was cool.

Other's I've met with no autographs and/or pictures include Glen Rice (helluva nice guy) and Robert Horry. I hung out with pre-trade Boki one night at a buddy's house. I also know Clutch (the mascot) really well through his brother, and several of the Power Dancers.

I have several autographs to me from people I haven't actually met through my mom working for an international airline: She spent all day coordinating one of Hakeem's flights from Houston to Lagos via London he autographed his First Class boarding card for me....Billy Gibbons gave me one of those immortal "ZZ" ZZTop keychains (and an autograph) which I still have. Others include David Prowse (Darth Vader) and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), and Evel Knievel.
