Why is this always a criteria? I think "clutchness" is mostly luck and very overrated as an individual skill. Would you rather have Robert Horry or Kevin Martin on your team?

The best player on the team is the dude that impacts the win column the most.

    Kyle Lowry

    Martin without a doubt.

Lowry really proved himself last year and I hope that he remains at that level and higher.

Scola is like that worn out fishing lure you just keep going back to. Old reliable.

If we can land a player who takes over the top spot in this poll, I think we've got ourselves a contender.

What's your definition of "Best Player"? scorer? all around? defensively?

I left it vague on purpose since fans have different definition for that.

I am appualed that not many voted for Lowry, this guy is an all around winner, great defense, improved jumper, sets up his teammates, and he can finish.....

I voted Martin but it's close between him and Lowry. I think if you took either one off the team for extended periods of time the Rockets would lose almost every game.

Lowry is a soldier. Martin is an asset.

Interesting. I voted for Martin for exactly the same reason. Patterson has the makings of a special player, Hill is serviceable, Morris was a great post scorer in college and the Big Junas oozes potential and could certainly benefit from some in-game reps. The Chuckwagon would also do perfectly fine at the 4.

Martin is the Rockets only "elite" player at this time. Scola and Lowry are close behind. Patterson, Lee, and C-Bud are up and comers. Hayes is a solid role player but ridiculously undersized at center.

Lowry's got a higher ceiling and my bet is he will improve enough to become our best by the end of this year. My vote still goes to Kevin Martin for the best player right now though.

I think Martin, Scola, and Lowry would be equally good third best players on a championship team. None are clearly better than the other two.

Martin is clearly the best-our offense relies upon him, and it is elite for a reason.

    I agree wholeheartedly.

martin is a nice player, but lowry has shown to be inspired, and that goes a long way with me.

Also love scola and his approach. same for hayes.

If we are going to suck I would prefer we suck with honor, and hard work that scola hayes and lowry give us.

If Scola and KM are the best players the Rox have, just shows how much the Rox have slipped from the Yao/Tmac years and even then they struggled to get out of the first round. It may be years before the Rox sniff a Finals. :(

well the only is HOF'er K.McHale if the coach is part of the team, as old as he is now he still maybe the best "player". lol

Lowry is a 2way player with heart thus getting my vote.

Normally the best player has the ball in his hands when the game is on the line. Robert Horry was the beneficiary of Olajuwon just as I think K. Martin may be the same from Lowry.
