    3 million dollars...

The Rockets can only give 500.000. Scola will pay the rest of his own pocket. But then he would need a 3M 3 year contract (the same that Nocioni got from the Bulls when he made the NBA).

If he plays well. He' ll get some contract from chinese companies, which should be able to cover his buyout expense.

The Grizzlies just waived Alexander Johnson today as well. That might be worth looking into.

Thanks for the link. The news hasn't hit the google news search yet.

Johnson was a 2nd round pick but if the Rockets weren't already up to 20 players on their Roster he'd be an interesting pickup.

Jeff Foster? I was an advocate of his last year. His defense and rebounding are spectacular. No one can question the effort he puts on the floor. He would have been excellent under JVG and I still think he can be effective under Adelman. If Scot Pollard could be effective for the kings, Foster can be very effective for us. We're getting a lot of new faces in our frontcourt, but almost all of them are questions marks. We need solid players instead of just filling up the position by committee.

Landry - Is he NBA ready?
Scola - How well will his game translate?
Reed - Will we cut him?
Harris - Is he a PF at all?
Butler - Will he have a bounce-back year?
Deke - Can he hold up?

The only ones we can really count on are Yao and Chuck. Chuck is what he is and he's not even under contract yet. Foster is better than Chuck and versatile enough to start at either PF and C, making him great injury insurance. And he can play defense against bigs ranging from Tim Duncan, to Boozer, to Dirk.

Bird's looking for a shooter. If we can sign Francis for cheap, or if Brooks looks ready early in the season, I'd trade Head along with Alston for this guy. It helps clear up the glut of guards that we have. Do this trade early enough and we wouldn't even need to re-sign Chuck, who'd be redundant next to Foster. Would Bird do this? Would any of you?

I guess Bird might not do it.That would leave only J. O'Neal and Murphy as rebounders. I'm tempted to do it, but I'm still concerned about our outside shooting right now.

Trust me guys, I'm from Indiana and I would take any of these guys over Jeff Foster. He works hard but he is really limited in any area other than rebounding. And to add to it, he is often out for long spurts of every season with back spasms. I'd stick with what we have over Foster.
