As many atl games I saw this year (at least 50) I didn't know he was 6'10". Knowing that, he'd be welcome here. He gave great energy and hustle when he came on the court. He's also quick enough to guard SF.

Man, u really want me to explain these dumb questions?

Stromile Swift played poorly while Haslem plays well and he's a starter. Why Heat want to exchange a starter PF with a discounted contract for garbage contracts and a late 1st round?

Both Kapono and Head are 3 pt shooters. Kapono has a better 3 pt shooting %. Does Head suddenly get some other guard skills i dont know?

I"m wondering if they can put Jake Tsladakis at the 4 if they don't make any more trades? He can't be any worse than Troy Murphy who's really really slow and I think Jake will help with rebounding. Deke can back up Yao and Battier and Hayes are interchangeable at the 4.

Course this also involves some coaching imagination...maybe something we were in short supply of before.

The whole premise of this thread is flawed. Spanoulis or a drafted PG are still possibilities. Listening to Morey yesterday talking with Palillo, I got theimpression they could go alot odifferent ways. Sapnoulis was mentioned as being a guy they absolutely wnat back. They do not expecte to get a starter or immediate impact guy at 26 and they could trade up or downand buy into the second round. Morey said they are looking to build through the draft. It definitely sounded like they feel the have upgraded a little and solidified the 1 for now. They expect to get this years 4 through trade or FA. Sounds like any number of guys could be in the mix. If, as Morey said, Sean Williams is someone they would still consider based on talent then maybe a Randolph could still be a consideration.

We are unlikely to get a stud PF so must settle for someone akin to Howard although with talents that better match our needs for the here and now. We went to the playoffs with Howard and a CBA level guy. It won't take Dirk to get us back there.

I think that Kurt Thomas, Webber, PJ or McDyess could be enough for this year.

Head has the ability to not be a total defensive liability while playing against guards. Kapono does not. He's also 2.5 years younger than Haslem, and it doesn't look like the Heat are going anywhere soon. They tried winning another one with the old men last year, and it wasn't even close to working. They're going to have to blow everything up real soon and start again. Cap room, draft picks, and good players on rookie contracts help you do that. By the time the Heat are contenders again (after Shaq is gone), Haslem will be an old man himself.

I was thinkin' about that and I even asked my friends but in my opinion there is no chance. JO is perfect I love him but he is a superstar. And the other problem is salary. He earns toooooo much for our team. If we wanted to trade him we should give Tracy or Yao cause I cannot see any different way.

LA wanted to get him without givin' up Lamar and Bybum. So maybe they should make a deal Vujacic for O'Neal? LOL Lakers are just kiddin' me.

Some posters would trade Battier for Haslem, others think Miami will give him up for Head. Find the midpoint, and there you've got Haslem's value.

The funny thing with Head is that we all know that he's pretty good around here, but we consider him kinda one-dimensional. BUT, it seems like he has more value around the league than we realize, because everyone else still thinks that he can be a point guard, or that he's a slashing-type player. I realize that he isn't really, but I often get the feeling that people outside of Houston don't. That's why I think there's a chance Miami gives up Haslem for Head, a 1st, and cap relief: because Head is overvalued. Overvalued not by us, but by everyone else.

David Lee, age 23 (back up PF for NY)

avg 10+ rebounds and 10+ points per game

6'9, plays well in the paint, scores with both hands, can run the floor (good for Adleman's offense)

I bet we could get him, considering NY has starting PF Malik Rose and word on the street is they have been looking for a 3pt shooter, so they might be interested in Novak and/or Battier.

    thoughts?

David Lee is near untouchable in NY. He wasn't a backup, he was the Knicks 6th man and the Knicks best PF who didn't start because they wanted to bring him off the bench for his energy.

David Lee will only be traded in a package deal for KG or Jermaine O'Neal.

Speaking of Miami, what ever happened to Wayne Simien?

I remember everyone wanted him over Luther Head in the draft but he just sort of disappeared off of the face of the earth.

    Miami won't trade Haslem.

Maybe Jared Jeffries is an option?

I think eh could put in some decent minutes on a team dominated by Yao and Mac playing Adelman's style. He can be had relatively cheap too since he had a horrible year.

Bob Sura and John Lucas for Jeffries?

Basically, they drop his contract (both Sura and Lucas can be dropped this summer right?) and we get someone who can give us 10-15 minutes at PF and 10-15 minutes at SF. He's great moving without the ball, and a good passer as well.

No long-term solution, but a terriffic rotation guy.

Still, we would need someone traditional at PF as well.

haslem is a fantastic fit but the Heat wouldn't trade him. There has to be someone else who can fill a similar role. Rebound well, defend well and hit a simple mid-range J.

An option that we could possibly work on is Milicic although I don't know what we'd offer them in exchange for him. Not offer him too much but he'd have a great role feeding off our star players. He can drive to the basket, decent rebounder, great shotblocker and can hit the J occasionally. Nice piece if we could add him for somewhere around 8M a year.

If we could get Mcdyess, I will be sssooooooooooooooooo happy. He defends, rebounds the ball and has an awesome midrange game.
If only we could get him at full MLE for 3 year

I see your points, but what your missing is we already have an under-valued gem of our own at PF by the name of Chuck Hayes.

Backup potential is fantastic. Future starter potential is even better.

But we need someone ready to contribute, and start, for a championship caliber team next season, not in 3-5 years.

Washington GM Grunfeld has said the Wizards wont trade big for small. Maybe things will change.
