i guess it makes too much sense to wait and see who we get for him and then ask who's going to be the closer?

TMac and Brooks are the only closers on this team. If they get dealt together then this team better win by 20 every night

Agreed. However, assuming Mcgrady can come back healthy (which again is a big if), then he will probably still demand a double team and can still create for others.

This team does need a closer but I'll be happy if we can just get more guys that can create for themselves and others. Artest nor Wafer can do this.

Didn't he score four 3's in the last 7 minutes against the wizards tobeat them?

There will always be upsets in a season.... no matter what player you have.

I disagree. This team lost so many close games with McGrady at the helm. I remember during the McGrady era pretty much any time the game was close in the final two minutes I expected a Rockets loss.

These days, I have a bit more confidence in how this team finishes games.

A legitimate question would be whether or not it is because these days, the players (outside of McGrady) making up the team is actually overall better than when McGrady was at the helm. I think it's fair to say that the past Rockets team were offensively challenged and it probably would be unfair to compare it to today's team who has members that can actually shoot.

A closer needs to be an ace offensive SG or SF.

Our SF are more than solid but Battier can't create and Artest can't close. Our SG is weak, and McGrady most likely won't be able to fetch a SG back (unless you believe the Vince for TMac rumors)

    lol.

Yah, I love how we can't get the ball to Yao in the 4th and Artest and Wafer decide to have in game brick contest's.

Fact is, McGrady or not. We need one and we can't get a legit one... I'd rather stick with the penetration that Tracy gives in the 4th than chucking 3's....

Assuming T-mac is gone and we see the same lineup. We will attempt to dump the ball to Yao and if he isn't open/injured. Its Artest/AB as our closers. Its been like that every since Rafer go traded.

Both Artest/AB averaged the same amount of FGA in the 4th quarter, next to Yao.

At least that is what I notice.

In other words we rely on Defense to close our games.

We will never know because if McGrady had been playing all this time those players would have never developed into the players they are today.

The fact is we win close games now that we didn't with McGrady on the court.

By the way, I love how the only people still on McGrady's jock happen to have his name in their handle. Just change your handle so you don't have to continue looking absurd defending the guy and/or downing other players.

its funny how most people are sayin Mac isn't a closer but if memory serves me right back in the days the McGrady and Yao PnR was a deadly combination. Sacramento game on the line who had the ball in his hands? McGrady. Who closed the game? Novak :D

McGrady is going to have the ball in his hands. Like it or not he is the Rockets best playmaker and go 2 guy.

    LOL bro.

Biggest stereo type on the board. It has nothing to do with my name. Enough with the user name bull ****.

I like Tmac just as I like Yao and Ron but what your saying is ignorant. You said we finish games better without a healthy McGrady which is completely ridiculous to say.

Let's be real. Artest makes every 1 out of 25 3's in crunch time. When Wafer is on it's great but when he's not, he completely loses his mind and throws up anything.

We haven't had a closer since T-Mac developed that bad case of vaginitis he gets when he thinks about driving into the lane and then hoists a 3 instead!!!
