I think you are right on point. PF is a tough position as there are a lot of talented PF's in the west.

How many good Centers are there where if you put Howard on them, we'll have a major mismatch.

Who cares if Howard is guarding Rasho Nesterovic. Does it matter. No.

If we get someone cheap then great. However, overpaying for a big stiff who offer 0 offense is not a solution.

I would look at Chris Mihm. His per-minute stats are Duncan-like, which is great for a bench player.

Seriously, I would love to have this guy backing up the 4/5.

Maybe we can take him off their hands for the TE so that they sign Mark Blount easily. Remember, they have Raef Lafrentz coming back too.

We need two players at the center position.

    One big plodding oaf.

    Ostertag, Scott Williams, Foyle

    and One Long quick shotblocker.

Swift, Clark, Skinner?, Badiane, Camby, Etan Thomas

Oh, and if anybosy listened to the JVG interview he clearly stated that Lue was a "back-up".

So we still need a point.

Personally I would like Snow, Ostertag (hack!!!, spit!!!) and Swift, Foyle would be really nice in place of Ostertag.

This is true. It's not like a few years back when Dream and Cato were injured and the Rockets started Kenny at center against.... Shaq!! I think he had 40 after 3 then sat the rest of the game.

He is near on the top of my list not because he is a great talent or anything, he has his ring with the bulls kinda getting up there in age can still be productive but

this man took out karl malone
that one act alone commands my respect and gratitude for years to come and makes him an honarary rocket

I have looked at the stats for most of these guys and Camby is clearly the most talented/productive, but I don't know if he is $ignable. I like Swift as a power forward, but really don't think he could/would be our backup center.

As posted earlier, I like the size that Ostertag brings (jeeez, it's still hard to type that  ). I think we need someone big to push Yao around in practice. I don't know what the market price for him would be.

Foyle, if he wants to be a starter, won't come here.

I like Etan Thomas, he is one of the best rebounders on the list and has always struck me as a tough defender, although I admit I haven't seen much of him. Etan has some upside that the older players don't have.

As far as players we could trade for, Mihm, James, and Booth would all be possibilities. But I am not sure I like any of them better than Ostertag or Thomas.

Not a bad idea, but I rather do this with Etan Thomas instead. The Wiz have Brown, Haywood and Jamison needing regular minutes in the 4/5, plus Jeffries and their rook center who they also may try to develop there.

I see Etan as a lot more physical and tougher, thus more complimentary to Yao, Howard and Mo, than the more finese oriented Mihm.

I would rather have Etan Thomas over Mihm as well. The athleticism is the key there. We need energy guys.

If we need a backup to the backup center, I would recommend Wang Zhizhi. He would only require 2M at most. He can also play Power Forward, who can shoot very good jumps and get rebs. I know some people critisize his defence, but he is not that bad while even better than Taylor IMO.

I'd take any of these guys as our backup centers.

If he is willing to sign for a reasonable amount Vlade Divac would be the best choice. I know he is old but he is still good for 15-20 minutes a game for at least another year or two. He may also be able to teach Yao a thing or two besides how to flop like a pro.

I don't want Yao to turn into the big flopping giant. But Yao can learn a lot from Vlade, and playing with the biggest flopper in practice has to help you not pick up tacky fouls right. :p

    Chris Anderson....vets minimum
    Keon Clark.....vets minimum

The only way we give MLE or use the TE is for a player that can contribute on both ends of the court or they have significant presence at both the 4 and 5 spots such as E. Thomas, Camby, etc.

The only we take on a Booth like contract is if it is to grease the skids on another deal where we get significant value, ie Daniels, Barry, Vlad Rad, etc.

Pipe - I agree with you 100%. And yes it is hard to type anything positive about Ostertag. The only other choice I see is Grant from Miami. I assume they are dying to get rid of him (well his contract). Maybe Spoon plus the TE would work. Short bad contract for long bad contract.

By the way, I like Spoon. Just trying to mitigate Grant's horrendous contract.
