Memo to Austin Rockets fans: go to these meetings at your own risk. Most of the time is spent discussing Days of Thunder's place in movie history and debating the merits of Calvin Murphy's wardrobe. I barely escaped with my life! Be afraid. Be very afraid.

I've certainly been a part of the divisiveness along political lines on these message boards. I wish it would stop in the midst of something like this.

I understand RichRocket's feelings. It's intensely hard for me to understand how one can enjoy the liberties we enjoy here and push for even more benefits from a government they seem unwilling to defend. (again, we're not talking about liberals who say, "go get 'em"). I have been criticized for posting the following quote by Ben Franklin, "Someone who would sacrifice liberty for security probably deserves neither." Today, I see many of you completely on board with this statement. Many who thought I was a conservative wacko for posting it earlier in a different context. It's hard for me to understand someone who will not defend what they love.

    I'm rambling...I'll stop now
