I was making fun of you calling other people "fair weather fans" when you basically recited the creed of the fair weather fan in the first line of your post.
Yeah I figured that too, but come on, this is UH; they'll never win anything. I have no ties or connections to UH anyhow so I never was a fan of them. You'd think a school that used to be nationally prominent (in football) could be able to find funding or something to improve the athletics at such a school. And I don't want the 'well, they are getting better' because that's crap; it's been the same excuse for years (in all sports, specifically basketball and football). Yes, I know they made a bowl game last year, but they won't this year.
Real convincing argument there. There's a little something called the BCS, the formation of the Big XII, and the Permanent Texas University Fund that have been screwing us over for a long, long time now. I'm tired of the excuses too, but it's true. Which is why any success is a thing to marvel at coming from such a disadvantage. So what do you want to hear? They're not getting better? Even if they are? Truth be told, UH did turn a corner over the past couple of years. It's a long road to ho, but even the longest journey begins with a single step. Your attitude is so juvinile (sorry to be brash, but that's honestly how it comes off). You say you're "not a fan" because you have no ties to the Uni. Well guess what, if you lived in Houston, you had a tie to it. It's fine by me if you don't actively support it, but going out of your way to bash it is beyond just "not being a fan."
Don't forget to mention the cross-town private school of 2800 undergrads that owns you in almost every sport. They've really screwed you over this past year.
Do you guys think Hurricane Ivan is following U. Miami? A big H3LL YES I will be there to support UH. Section 117.
Indeed. I can be somewhat predictable. I actually do cheer for UofH when they aren't playing Rice, though. Especially in baseball since we know your team so well after playing 5 times per year (not counting any regional/super regional play).
Dear lord, don't get so emotional about a non-serious discussion. I'm not trying to debate (no wait, I'm sorry, I mean make excuses for) why University of Houston athletics are sub par. If you want factual information in trying to debate a person who could seriously care less about UH football/basketball, it ain't worth b****ing at me and calling my attitude 'juvinile' (it's actually juvenile but let's stay away from the grammar Nazism here) because I don't care for the Cougars. I never have so why should I start? You're getting too sensitive here; 80% of what I write is in a half-heartedly manner. And just because I lived in Houston means I have a tie to the University? WTF? If anything I had ties to Baylor and Rice, definitely not UH. I've been to numerous Rice football and basketball games and even a couple of Baylor games, but I never have attended a UH games. I have zero ties to that place. All I had envisioned when I entered this thread was to support MY team, the college that I currently attend, not just because they're fantastic, but because they're MY team; UH isn't.
Manny- is Miami a pretty small school? Reason I ask is for a big time school they don't travel well at all. Is the alumni base not that big, or do all the alums stay in Florida after graduation (for that I woudl not blame them).
No way I could coordinate all of my friends getting to the stadium in time to tailgate, but I will be heading over to the BW3 near the south beltway around Westheimer/Briar Forest after work. I'm not sure of the exact address yet.
Definitely not like Rice. Miami used have about 13,000 undergrads in the 80s but it's currently around 9,000 undergrads (12,000 including grad students). The male-female ratio is fantastic; 65% female, 35% male overall, but my freshman class: 72% female, 28% male Miami and Rice aren't completely different, but definitely not alike. One can equate Miami to Tulane, both very, very similar schools.
Sorry for my lapse, but anyway, the Coogs should lose a close one...Miami can't score, but neither can Houston... Coogs: 17 Miami: 24
You are dreaming if you think Miami's defense gives up 17 to Houston. Maybe if they are scored off turnovers like interception returns or fumble recoveries, but long drives by the Cougar offense resulting in 17 points? Not likely.
yah tell me PipdaDy33... if they still had free tickets me and you would be at the game drunk off our asses rooting for that U of H.
