I see, but at the same time they're the Knicks...they suck balls. All they would have to offer would be their own 2nd round picks which are likely to be in the low to mid 30's in the immediate future. Ewing went 43rd, but I saw several mock drafts that had him going undrafted. Now if you believe that the Knicks were willing to buy a high 2nd rounder for Ewing, then I think it's possible that they would take him off our hands for one of their futures. However, I'm going to assume that they were probably hoping to snag him later than he actually went, and thus wouldn't be interested now if it costs them a 2nd. EDIT: I just checked and at this point, the Knicks don't even have a 2nd for next year. That makes it even less likely.
Mike Harris, please forgive me for my gross negligence: I should have put you ahead of any of those bottom three on my above list. Outside-looking-inners: Let's bring Newly, and our summer league stars-- that tall guard, and that tall 2nd round pick shooter-- in for another look at camp.
I guess we wont be bringing back horry then. considering the current logjam. also i rather see harris make the team then big shot rob. rob is done. atleast harris can contribute. sadly even mikes days might be numberd now. with Battier, artest, tracy and barry there is very little use for mike.
I think if Deke signs he'll be on the reserve list. SF might not make the team. Ewing and Straw Jr. are gone. Harris may be make the reserve squad.
Can we please get into traning camp and get some preseason games actually played before we start making cuts? I will call it now though, Hayes and Head will not be traded this year, nor will they be cut. Face it.
I hope the final roster looks like this: PG- Rafer/AB/SF3 SG- Tmac/Barry/Head SF- Artest/Battier/Harris PF- Scola/Hayes/Landry C- Yao/Dorsey/Deke
That doesn't really matter. Ewing has a partially guaranteed contract. The Rockets need to trade him even if it means they get nothing in return.
I was thinking Ewing might be cut, but after watching what Morey did with Singletary, I'm thinking that, if at all possible, Morey will salvage some consideration, however tiny (cash, right to switch 2nd round picks in 2013), out of Ewing.
I would put Landry a head of Hayes, because of his scoring. So I think Hayes will be out looking in and Landry will get playing time.
1. trade ewing to the knicks using the minimum salary player exception or whatever its called that let us trade novak to the clippers for nothing. 2. let head/strawberry battle it out in training camp. then either trade head of cut DJ.
Well let's say a team like the Knicks wanted a shot at him. Why would they trade for him when they know we're going to have to cut him anyway? It'd be smarter for them to wait and let the Rockets cover the guaranteed portion. Then again, it's the Knicks...
As i say in my starter post, i really hope that the rox is able to get in another C that is big and already proven. And someone that is within range of trading for, is David Harrison of the Pacers. I yet to see him play, and i cant find the reason for him missing so many games( have no idea is it DNP or injuries), but in 12mins, he still is able to get 1 block per game. His big, his young, and will be entering his 5th season in the league. At his salary of around 2m, i take him for the minutes that deke have plays, and if he did not make it, rox could always cut him and sign deke. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/h/harrida01.html
I reallly have no idea about whom DJ is ,is him Dave Stain or Adam Clenton? Besides , i'm afraid that you have missed our second round draft Marrty Laune .I would rather retain Marrty than Ewing Jr ,and luther should be cut off because of his 4 pts and 4 asts as a whole in five games againest jazz in last year's series .
Leunen was impressive in the summer leage camps. He was doing what we had expected Novak to do for 2 season. So, now that the Rockets have player with shooting and Basketball IQ, they send him to Europe. "?" Uhmm? But, it was the Summer Leagues. But, I'd like for the Rockets to make a realistic assessment before they send him to the Euro leagues. Let's not forget how upset the Rockets were when Landry refused to go to the European leagues!!! And once he did get his contract with the Rockets he demonstrated how vital he was.
As much as I love Hayes I don't wanna him as a backup pf on our team especially if we want to compete for the tittle. this guy is a warrior, he has heart i know, but his offense is pathetic and so far it has been our biggest problem, offense. i wanna see Landry next season, but healthly and explosive Landry.
Because of the promise that Maarty Leunen showed in the summer league, I actually hope that he does NOT get invited to camp. If Leunen accepts an offer overseas, then the Rockets will retain his rights indefinitely until he decides to come back to the NBA, at which time the Rockets can just extend him a qualifying offer of the one-year rookie minimum. However, if Leunen is invited to camp and does not make the final roster, then the Rockets will lose his rights. With the talent and depth that this team already has, I'd rather stash Maarty away in Europe until he develops into a more solid all-around player, at which time he could join the team in a more prominent role (e.g., 9th or 10th man, instead of 15th man at best).
