I think some of you are selling Lawson short. If he and Beard could mesh well, we would be scary good.
As much as I love Lawson, he doesn't have the size, can't bring the D (bringing versatility/flexibility), and forget about playing off the ball like Dragon. Lawson is a helluva player ...and, young......But, Goran is the better fit IMO. I know many doubt GD's availability/cost ......We'll see about that. And, there is no way in Hell I'd give up DMo in either of THESE deals.....As many have already said, IF he was to go, we better be getting a superstar. That said, I really want him to stay a Rocket for the duration of his career.....some All Star appearances in his future. I also echo the aforementioned adage about trading quality bigs for smalls... OMT.....I've coveted Gallo for quite awhile ....Now, that he's healthy.....If we DO go after Lawson, perhaps we could work him into it.
I don't know much about the Nuggets, but I play enough fantasy basketball with him on my team and all I see next to his name all season is "out"
Goran is the perfect fit. Just don't see Phoenix dropping out of contention in the next two weeks, and there's no way they can just trade their (arguably) best player in the final stretch of a playoff chase.
I think Ty Lawson would be a great fit... Probably the most likely scenario IMO. A sleeper I would watch out for though (and this is just me speculating) is Jarrett Jack.
At this point he's untradeable unless for a bonafide All-Star. It's not just his moves in the post. His vision. His passing. Imagine players operating in a system where people actually cut to the basket with a purpose and a head coach who can utilise the talents of our players? Seeing D-Mo in the Spurs system.... I don't even want to imagine what he'd look like. That's scary.
Well, he's been healthy, but this guy haven't been the icon of health in the past years. But while we're on the subject Plus do I want a ball dominating point guard that is amazing with the ball, but needs it in his hand to be effective in the game; or do I want Dragic who spent 2 years sharing the court with 2 other ball dominant point guard and learning how to play off ball? One of these two will be playing next to Harden
With the bad news about Dwight, it looks like Morey has to go back to the drawing board in his search for elite players. Morey is no longer looking for a third elite player, but a second elite player. I know that the final chapter hasn't been written for Dwight Howard. But it looks like a long shot that Dwight will return to be the elite player he once was. Do we really want to just wait and hope that Dwight returns to form? We all spent a long time waiting on Yao Ming to get healthy, and it never happened. So how does the Dwight Howard situation possibly change Morey's strategy. The Rockets have failed to retain players that went on to become very good players. I'm talking about Dragic, and Lowry. Could Morey decide to retain and develop our young talent instead of trading them for one elite player? Would Either Dragic, or Love playing alongside Harden be enough to make us a contender? Is it worth gutting our team in order to add one more elite player? Could DMo, TJones, or Capela develop into a top NBA player the same way that Dragic, and Lowry have? Is this year really the year we should go "all in", or should we stand pat and hope that one or more of our young players develop into top players.
Not sure with the Howard situation. Prior to that I would hope nobody would get traded. We have the pieces and just need to develop the team chemistry.
Goran and Love are not going to be enough to make us an elite team with a half fit Howard. They may leave us at the end of the season, and will cost us a lot too. D-Mo and Jones do have some upside left, but they aren't elite talents. If D-Mo could bang in the paint along with his versatile finesse game, he would be the missing star. Capela is much too raw. Getting Lawson or Collison is going to be hard, but if either one becomes available without giving up D-Mo, then Morey should go for it.
Plowman, I always like your posts, but I am surprised why you covet Gallo so much. He can't defend anyone at all.
Well a decision then needs to be made by Phoenix if they want to continue to struggle for an 8th seed or trade one of their pg's for a bigman that immediately fills their hole. Dragic or bledsoe in the backcourt immediately makes us contenders with Dwight and Josh Smith. Tjones and Dmo are still projects. We can spare one with Capella coming up.
Dragon is better no one should doubt that but can we get him? Phoenix has lost 2 in a row but they are still in the 8th seed. We are only 2 weeks away from the trade deadline. If I'm Phoenix I might get a big man maybe Lopez if they can or just stay put. Denver on the other hand, they are going nowhere and wherever they are going I doubt Lawson takes them there. They should be looking at a rebuild. Lawson is "gettable" which is why I would have him as my top guy for the deadline.
