As of this moment, there's no question that Amare is the better player on offense. There's some guys that you know will score everytime they get within 5 feet of the basket(T-Mac is one of them), and Amare is one of them. He's a tremendous finisher, and now he even has a jumpshot. To be honest, I'm surprised to see Amare make such vast improvements so quickly.
Cherish what you already have and stop the fantasy. Think about Van Gundy is negative, how about we rockets fans? Guys, let suport our own Houston Rockets.
A Wolves fans wrote after the Suns-Wolves game: " I have to say after tonight's game I like Amare more, but he still has a very very long way to go. He's not anywhere close to being a complete player right now. He was pretty much nonexistent on the boards, which is completely unaccaptable. I'm still not seeing the jump shot that people claim he has, he made jumpers, one with a second left in the 4th, and missed 3 jumpers including one air ball. He needs to improve that, but that's not one of the big problems in his game. I don't think he's that great of a low post player. The only move he has is to attack the basket and dunk it or try a contested layup. He needs to learn some real moves and some real shots. And then the one thing that probably stands out the most, he doesn't make his teammates better at all. For other elite players, their teammates play off them and benefit from their game. But with Amare he doens't do anything for his teammates. It's not really a matter of getting assists, but just contributing to the offense more than just going one-on-one and beating his man to the basket. The offense doesn't run through him and at this point I don't see him as a player that you could run an offense through. Now on the positives, this man is a freaking beast. He's bigger and stronger than 99%, if not 100% of the players in the league. He's also a freak athletically. He's just scary athletic and scary strong, and he uses that to his advantage to get to the hoop and finish. But Amare still has a long way to go, longer than I thought before this game.Hopefully he can add those diminsions to his game, because he already has an amazing base of strength and ahtletic ability. We'll see how he continues to mature in his basketball game in the coming years. " --- from *basketball board, net
