What a time to make this thread. Look, Jordan played a hell of a game tonight, and he's been doing good. But as of right now, the edge goes to Landry. Maybe if Hill gets more mature and experienced he will be the better player.
Landry is overmatched. Daryl Morey sold him when his stock was maxed out. He really isn't that great. He had a good run but teams have him figure out now.
Hill is a better overall player. Landry is a good offensive machine sure, (Actually he kinda sucks with the Kings) but Hill has a much more complete game.
Landry in a landslide. Has everyone forgot how great he was in the 4th quarter last year? He was our go-to option. We really could use one of those right now. Hill is getting better, though. But he's no sixth man of the year.
Also, Hill does not have the consistency yet of Landry. Hill is still up and down and doesn't bring it every night.
Landry has better offense than Hill. Hill has better defense and size. This is a good question because it's a hard one. Here's an idea...what if the Rockets took back Landry and had both on the floor? What a good compliment in the post and mid-court!
Just checked out Landry's stats. Didn't realize his level of play had gone down as much as it has this year. Doesn't look like he's as consistent with Sacramento as he was with Houston.
At this point in time, Carl Landry would be better in terms namely on the offensive end. And as countless posters have mentioned before me, I do also believe that Hill has a higher ceiling. I really do hope he can make his post game a lot more fluid and the jumper more consistent and it does seem like its coming along nicely If I were to choose now, I would take Jordan Hill over Landry, just because of the energy and activity on the boards Hill exerts which is something the rockets really need.
Meh, Landry's stats are definitely not too good this year, there's no denying that, but it's much different to be the 2nd scoring option on a team with only 2-3 scoring options than to be a 6th man on a team with 4-5 scoring options. If Landry was brought back, I have no doubt in my mind we'd see a major improvement in his stats. And as much as I really like the way Jordan Hill has played, I'd have to go with Landry, and there really wouldn't be a second thought about it. If we could somehow bring back Landry but keep Hill at the same time... then I'd probably lose my mind.
I guess Landry would fit on this team, undersized, poor defender, good scorer, poor rebounded, low room for improvement.
Finally a sensible post. I don't see how so many people have forgotten what kind of player Landry was. Landry wasn't a starter on this team and he flourished as the 6th man backing up Scola. He really was the heart of this team, and he gave it all on the court. I just don't see that passion in Hill that I see in Landry. It could come for Hill, who knows. I'm glad we have Hill, but i'm not gonna act like Landry isn't the better player.
He's not the same player because, on the Kings he is one of their main scoring options, and that's just not what Landry is. He can't carry a team, but he can be a great role player on a really great team. Hence, why he flourished when he was with us.
Landry as a rookie brought energy and his game revolved being around the basket, getting dunks and tip ins which is what Hill does. Considering this is like Hill's rookie year, I would say they're about even. But this isn't the 'Lakehouse', hill isn't playing in 2007 nor is a 24 year old landry playing in 2010 simultaneously.
But Landry doesn't play with the same fire or hustle anymore, I am not sure whether it is because he doesn't like playing on loosing teams or with ball hogs but he would be in a similar situation if he comes to the Rockets. Why do you think he would suddenly regain what he had?
