Terrible post. You honestly think Durant will never be a superstar? lol...

Considering both players at 21, I would have to go with Durant. Hes a better scorer than Mac and one thing you can already tell about Durant is that he is a better teammate as well. His body has not even fully developed at this point for crying out loud.

Those 2 things combined lead to my "speculation" that Durant will in fact be a superstar in the very near future.

Durant has a tougher group of dynamic wing players to rank up against, than the competition of wing players vs McGrady while he was in Orlando .

*List is cream of the crop perennial All-Star*

    Durant has:
    Lebron
    D Wade
    Kobe
    Carmelo
    Brandon Roy
    Joe Johnson
    Paul Pierce
    Vince Carter
    Ray Allen

    McGrady had:
    Kobe
    Vince Carter
    Paul Pierce
    Ray Allen
    Iverson?

Durant in '01-04 would have even been even MORE directly challenging the game's best. Would have been the Lebron of those years.

God, y'all's hate for tmac is so beyond a normal hate.

here's my rant for tmac as a rocket.....

Besides him shutting it down last year..........i would say his tenure as a rocket was better than all the other rockets. First season as a rocket, came in and brought us to the playoffs and with a crappy cast, almost took us to the second round while being extremely efficent on both ends of the court. Even in the final game when we were blown out, he still produced. 22 game win streak, utah series, etc.....he always produced and outproduced everyone else on our team. I know he's our superstar and he's expected to do that but again.....besides last year when he shut it down....he's always produced. ****, if mcgrady was allowed to play like he did for the knicks tonight all season long for us.....do you think we'd have at least 3-5 more wins?

And finally, the comparison to durant.

Stat wise, at the same age. they are really close in numbers. Durant went to college for a year and mcgrady went to the league out of high school.

tmac wasn't even the prime player in toronto, they had VC and he was given the reigns to the team. Durant has been the featured player for 3 years in Seattle/OKC.

The first season tmac signed with orland, he avg-ed 26.8 pts, shot .457 from the field, .355 beyond the arc, 7.5 reb per game, 4.6 apg, 1.5 steals, 1.5 blocks, 2.57 to's, and 2.0 pfs.

    kevin durant this year is averaging, 29.8 points,, .479fg%, .376 3pt%, 7.5 reb, 2.9 assists, 1.4 steals, 0.9 blocks, 3.75 to's, and 2.23 pf's.

Kevin durant is a better scorer in terms of stats but by three points. He gets considerably less assists than mcgrady and is definitely alot more injury prone. the supporting casts for tmac that year is considerably alot worst than durants current supporting casts and durant is allowed to offensively score more. (russell westbrook and jeff green are relatively good pieces and potential future all stars....mcgrady played with crap in his orlando days...jon amaechi, darrel armstrong, a rookie mike miller, etc.) Tmac played defense a whole lot better than kevin durant did too. more steals and more blocks per game while playing the same amount of minutes. from an offensive perspective, kevin durant is a better shooter than tmac but i'd trust tmacs slashing and cutting ability as well as his ball control alot more than kd's. arguably, tmac has been one of the most talented players to play this game, one where many ppl argued who was better, tmac or kobe.......(and if you look at the stat-lines, tmac was arguably the better play at the time or at the same age).

durant is a special player and one of my more fave players in the nba, but if it were me and i had kd @ 21 vs. tmac @ 21....i'd choose tmac over kd in a heartbeat.

oops, meant to say turnover prone. furthermore, first season tmac as a magic is the same age as durant's current year with okc

tmac at the age of 21, you don't think tmac would be the same amount of development age wise? just because tmac scores less points but does literally everything else better than durant......ball control, rebounds more on the offensive end, plays better defense, better passer, less turnover prone, durant is special, but wasn't tmac special.

er, don't forget a prime kevin garnett, a prime tim duncan, a younger kobe, vince carter, a younger jason kidd, a very nasty chris webber, a prime ray allen, etc.......

competition in the nba is competition in the nba. let's not even forget that since 06-07, the nba has favorably given perimeter players a big advantage with foul calls and what not.

I wouldn't exactly say more challenging, but different nonetheless.

We were looking at the prime of every veteran we have out there, including Shaq, Garnett, Nowitzki etc. Many of these players have fallen off, but when they were at their prime, they are easily comparable to the players we have today.

Kevin Durant will be a better scorer than McGrady. Durant has the things McGrady had in his prime which made him unstoppable. McGrady had the skillset, the size, the speed and the ballhandling skills. Durant has almost everything McGrady had (although Durant is slightly taller), although his game is still not quite smooth as McGrady's yet.

In a few years, Durant will be one of the most dynamic scorers to play the game, though I doubt Durant will develop the court vision McGrady has.

I edited my post. I meant just the SG/SF WING PLAYERS at his position. NOT any BIG men, NOT any point guards. Not any 1 dimensional players.

The ones you can call the absolute best. Not any Allan Houston, Michael Finley, Peja Stojakovic, etc... close is Latrell Sprewell, Shawn Marion those types. I put Ray Allen in there just because. You can put Reggie Miller and Wizards Michael Jordan in there but they were past their prime.

Lebron, D Wade, Carmelo, Brandon Roy, Joe Johnson, all those prominent swingmen came in right at or AFTER McGrady left Orlando.

I don't think durant in 01-04 would be the LBJ of those year, because LbJ make his whole team better and took them to the final. I'm not saying durant doesn't make his team better, it's just that he doesn't have the same impact to a team as LBJ

durant is easily the better scorer b/c he's a much better shooter (and 3pt/ft). he's going to break the record for straight games w/ 25+ pts and he's only 21. he's going to have multiple scoring titles when it's all said and done.

tracy, in his prime, was a better all-around player (and durant might never match it). with westbrook, the thunder rarely relies on durant to create (and i don't think he's very adequate in that area where he can play PG for stretches like tmac).
