I say he's a chucker because he can't shoot for more that 45 percent and doesn't take it to the rack unlike every other person you mentioned. He's a ball stopper because he gets the ball and stands there for 5 to 10 seconds and chucks up a contested 25 foot jumpshot.

Durant is a streaky guy. He can catch fire. But asking this question on Clutchfans is unfair to Tmac. Most of you hate him, so of course you won't pick him. But IMHO Mac is a more special player than Durant will be.

Durant is better at 21 than Tmac was........that is the only comparison I can make.

KD is only 21 and improving rapidly, but IMO he's not ready to be compared to McGrady just yet. In a couple of years (maybe even next year), he will be better than McGrady ever was.

McGrady had one of the greatest combinations of skillset and athleticism the NBA has ever seen, but he lacked the mentality to get the most out of it. KD definitely does NOT have that problem. This will become more apparent as the years go by.

I'm a huge Durant fan, but T-Mac in his prime was downright disgusting.

Durant has all the tools to be that good and better though.

I would have to say Mcgrady, for the simple reason that I don't think we have seen Durant's best as of yet.

I am not Tmac's biggest fan but one of the biggest misconception is that he a ball stopper.

Since when has he been a ball stopper? In his prime in Orlando and Houston, he was often asked to do the majority of ball handling and scoring and for good reason; Orlando and Houston was limited with players with offense ability.

While with Orlando, the next best guy was Mike Miller and that was it. In Houston, other than last year, the only two guys who could score consistently was Yao and Tmac.

Are you guys seriously suggesting that you would rather have Hayes, Deke, Bowen, Alston, Jhoward, or some has been vet taking the majority of the shots?

Tmac is no longer with the Rockets so lets just move on.

Durant is not in his prime yet, and if you compared Durant now to Tmac in his hey day, it isnt even close, Tmac by a mile. Tmac averaged 32 points on a crappy Orlando team. He is a superior ball handler and passer, and he was a much better defender when he wanted to lock someone down.

Since when was McGrady a ball stopper? Are you serious? I lost count how many times he got the ball on the wing and just stood there palming the ball with his arm extended away from the defender while teammates just watched him. It isn't all about shot attempts.

There is no misconception about McGrady being a ball-stopper. It is a fact.

I honestly don't think that people remember just how fast Mac was, not to mention how good of a ball-handler and passer he still is. The only thing that derailed this man from greatness was the unfortunate injuries and just time in general catching up to him. James might be better than Mac was, but I also feel that he's on an entirely different level from where Durant is. Get over the scoring people, Stackhouse almost averaged 30 points per game before.

T-Mac in his prime drove to the rim quite often. In his Orlando days at least. Come on now... We've all seen the highlight reel dunks

    But yeah, this isn't a fair comparision...yet

I don't think Durant will ever be the playmaker that T-mac was but OKC don't need him to be as good of a playmaker if Westbrook reaches his potential.

As soon as Durant makes it out of the first round of the playoffs, I'll say Durant. Until then, I'll stick with the Mac in his prime vote.

McGrady in his prime was a top five player. Durant is not at that point just yet, but as A_3PO and others have already pointed out, he has the fire and mentality necessary to take him to that point and well beyond. We all know the talent and skill are there, the rest will take care of itself with experience.

Durant hasn't hit his prime yet, so this question is unanswerable. Tracy's 32.1 PPG year, at this point, is better than what Durant is doing. Will he surpass it? Probably. But a nagging injury here, ACL surgery there could derail anyone's career.
