...and in no way does that include eating Whoppers, or really any burgers off fast food menus.

I've cut fast food out of my diet for the most part. I'll occasionally get a Wendy's grilled chicken sandwich w/ baked potato, a sonic wrap w/ tots, or a salad at either place. I do still cave into a Whataburger Chicken Sandwich w/ fries, or one of their promo burgers/sandwiches...and also a chick-fil-a chicken sandwich w/fries every now and then.

I probably only eat it at most once a week now, whereas it used to be 2 or 3 times a week minimum. I'm sure not going to waste it on those 800 calorie burgers, that aren't even that good. If I really want a burger, I'll cook it or go to an actual restaurant.

I mean healthy. Simple things like making the chicken on your sandwich or salad grilled instead of fried, substituting mustard instead of mayo, ordering water instead of a soft drink, and so on. Many restaurants are giving you other options besides deep friend french fries as sides too such as fruit, baked potatoes, etc. You just have to work at it.

Here are several reports actually that include places like McDonalds, Chick-Fil-A, Wendy's, etc.

Exactly and that is what I am talking about. You have to work at eating healthy if you're going to go with fast food but it can be done.

Yeah, but what about sodium? And also, fat usually isn't the enemy in most poor american diets. Simple carbs and sugar are usually the enemy. Your body needs good fats to survive. I just had brown rice, grilled chicken (from home) and olive oil for my lunch. Most would say that was a faily high fat meal because of the olive oil, but those are healthy fats & your body needs them - so the idea of "low fat" is often misunderstood.

True, as somebody already stated they probably use the fattiest ground meat they can to save money. Although it may cost a little more, chicken is the way to go.

    What about sodium?

Eating the meal I described at Wendy's is probably less than 400 calories total and the sodium content is a ****load lower on a salad than in fries.

He's just going to keep coming up with a reason to claim that fast food can't be healthy. Next it will be that the meals do not contain enough vitamin C or something.

His meal is preferable in a diet, no doubt.

But in today's culture eating every meal at home is unrealistic.

The sad thing is that fresh food that is good for you is significantly more expensive than the processed garbage that is bad for our diet, not to mention our food production system.

And the people who most need food to be healthy are the ones who can least afford it.

I would love to eat nothing but organic food for every meal.

    But I'm poor and lazy.

    I gotta disagree.

I spend tons less money when I buy fresh fruit, vegetables, and beans and rice in bulk.

It's the taste for foods high in fat as well as resistance to learning how to cook that forces people to pay more for processed foods.

    Auuuuugh. This sounds amazing.

    Thanks for the tip.

(Anything labeled "California" has to contain avocados, which are of course the greatest food the world has ever known).

Lean meat would cost more and they wouldn't be able to rip people off as much with a paper-thin pattie of lean beef. :D

The way they cook it, the quality of the ground beef. (what percent lean is it? More than likely very low....)

    And the oiled buns.

Only burgers I eat are ones I make on my George Foreman grill, consisting of at a minimum 97% lean ground beef.

I never realized how much I loved avocados until I tried my own homemade guacamole dip. The I tried them sliced on everything from sandwiches to pizzas. They're just great!

Dear God, if you don't eat beef or chicken, what kind of fast food can you possibly enjoy?! Fish sandwich?

I think it's funny how people try to add veggies to their burger, or order a side salad, yet they put ranch dressing in the salad, leave the mayo in the burger, and get a greasy bun.

It's the small things where the fat lies.

I haven't had a burger at a fast food joint in a couple of years. I just get the chicken. (chicken fajita pita is the ****).
