It absolutely does align with the majority of the right wing. Where the **** do you think they get that rhetoric?

Most of my peers aren't so hard right they seek out message boards like storm front. Most of their talking points come from major social media platforms and right wing news outlets that get spammed on said major social media networks along with the most popular conservative/right wing YouTubers.

Republicans voted Trump out of power in 20/20, yet somehow that means very little to you, why would they then vote him back in?

Yes its complicated but its nowhere near as complicated as 1940's Germany, I can't believe you went there.

Oh yeah, and it's 67% of those polled that want back as president, do you think that means 80% of all republicans?

Republicans voted Trump out of power?

He literally had the second highest vote total for a presidential candidate in American history.

Turnout of Democrat voters is what got Trump out of office.

No it does not and they get that rhetoric from the same meatheads they are confined with or seek it out.

So you think Democrats flipped Arizona and Geiorgia by all democratic voting?

Anyway I am done I see you just want to go round and round and I am not here for that, we have covered all this stuff before, you just keep right on with rhetoric about how the majority of Republicans are racist.

Yes Arizona and Georgia flipped mostly based on turnout from blue districts being record highs.

Why not look at how many people voted for Trump in those two states in 2016 vs 2020.

Also, thanks for informing me how peers and an entire culture I interacted with daily for four years recieved their information. You have any better insight on right wing culture in the military?

Yes, because meatheads by themselves made up the narrative that socialism is the reason why Nazi Germany was evil and preformed a Holocaust. Not propagandists from major right wing outlets and social media accounts along with the most prominent vocal YouTubers in the right wing sphere. It just simply was a talking point from some random Marine grunt meathead that just spread within.

Ask yourself if your generic milk toast conservative would lambast the right wing culture in places like Marine infantry where you think narratives like "Nazis bad because socialism" magically get created.

Majority of humans have some form of racism and tribalism embedded in their wiring. Yes, in America, the tribalism and desire to keep this nation a certain demographic (white christian) is almost entirely propagated by GOP media and politicians. I'm sorry that you have to face reality by kicking and screaming and yelling at people for "overgeneralization".

I can only base what is popular amongst the conservative base through the media they consume and the conservative people I interact with in mass.

And it isn't only the direct peers I have an insight with in terms of right wing culture. It's the branched out network of family and friends that I routinely interact with.

    A. Republican voters voted for Trump in record numbers. I really don’t even know where to begin with this statement.

    B. I said 1930’s Germany. Hitler didn’t even invade Poland until the end of that decade. I don’t even have time to go through the many parallels. Working class voters turning to authoritarianism because they felt the system had failed them and blamed “the other”… yes 2020’s America has a ton of parallels we can learn from history and protect ourselves from demagogues.

Or we can put our fingers in our ears and “it can never happen here because “good” Republicans and corporate America will do the right thing.”…. Right….

    C. Are you really trying to argue percentages when it’s clear I was using generalities and the point generally is that a “wide majority” of Republican voters are still choosing Trump over a Democratic candidate in a head to head race. And in the primary polling right now it’s obvious that he’s running away with the primary vote.

75%,80%,99%…. What does it matter? Republicans will continue to support Trump and Trumpism unless something drastic changes during the primary process. I don’t see how that’s so controversial to you? I caught some of Morning Joe this morning and boy that guy spews some naivety. Like all the sudden because Trumps polling has dropped like 2 points we are supposed to believe the Republican Party has now exercised all its demons and now is a big tent party for all Americans?? I mean wow.

But let me be clear… I’ll be happy to eat crow if I’m wrong and the Republicans decide to nominate a sensible Morning Joe type of Republican come 2023. You can come on here all day long and say a big I told you so.

Remember back in October when you were all over my a$$ about how it’s obvious that Trump was going to try and overthrow the election using the 12th amendment and you jumped down my throat claiming it’ll never happen etc etc??? Maybe I’ve earned just a minimal amount of credibility to say what I think might be going on and not have people jump down my throat. I think any objective person will be able to understand obvious 1930's Germany parallels, and not think that person is predicting that Democrats will be thrown into camps.

Did she say something stupid and controversial? Yes.
Did she make it worse on Colbert? Yes.
Should she be "cancelled" over it? No.

I miss the good ole days when you could give an opinion (even ignorant ones) and not be destroyed for it.

Cancel culture is the only thing we need to cancel.

Nothing is stopping the View from not "canceling" her besides corporate executives worrying about return on investment for their shareholders.

That's the thing about "cancel culture" the way right wingers frame it. It's nothing more than people expressing their distaste or difference of opinion through boycott. It's a old thing that right wingers repackaged to create a slight of hand were actual suppression of speech occurs through right wing efforts to "patrioize" our education system to be nothing more than American exceptionalism propaganda is ignored.

"Conservatives" really have a fantasy in their heads about what life was like in the Good Ole Days. You now can say "Fck" on basic cable as long as you throw a 2 second MA rating at the beginning of the segment. You can have naked people on the Discovery channel with only their penis and vagina's blurred. And if you are a Christian you can also have 3 marriages, cheat on your current wife with a pornstar, lie as much as you breathe air, curse, cheat on your taxes, and become president.

Conservative people have it pretty damn Non-Cancely right now I have to admit. Go back and watch Leave it to Beaver and then watch It's Always Sunny. Go watch Johnny Carson then watch Colbert.

People really have a warped sense of history, and nostalgia. That being said, decisions by corporate execs to always be making decisions around making money and maximizing viewership instead of focusing on art quality is painful to me.... However that isn't "Censorship" or "Cancel Culture"... that is Capitalism.

Thanks for the clarification and agree with what you're saying.
I understand what you're saying and I agree the continued spread of misinformation and even deliberate lies is a big problem. My argument on this is less about content but about balancing out rights. As much as I harp what is and isn't free speech I do think we need to err on the side of free speech even when it is not factual or harmful. This has to do with that on many issues what is "true" isn't always clear cut. As we see with situations like COVID-19 things can change quickly and what is considered to be correct one day might very well end up wrong the next. It also comes down to who is the arbiters of truth and here's where I agree with those who say we shouldn't just accept what the establishment says just because it's the establishment.

This is why in these arguments I'm very careful to draw the distinction between private entities and the government. In many of these debates many will bring up that free speech is something that isn't just limited to the First Amendment and in an absolute sense that is true but there is a very important distinction there. The government carries the force of law and as libertarians will point out has a legal monopoly on use of force. Under the principles of the Constitution the government exist for the common good and the protection of rights. As such for the government it is very important that it errs on the side of free speech even if that means allowing Westboro Baptist church protests at the funerals of dead serviceman.

This is very different than a private entity which has their own rights to free speech and property. The job of a private entity whether it's Neil Young or ABC isn't to protect the rights of everyone. They are entitled to protect their own rights. As such if they choose not have their property (name, platform, content, money) go to something they don't approve of that should be not just respected but protected.

It's the difference between telling someone in my own house to shut up and get the Hell out versus an LEO arresting someone waving a sign on a sidewalk.
