Charlie V for me. To me he is a player with great talent but has a motor of a Yugo. The guy just plays so dispasionately. It is because of this I think he will just drift in games. And he is in a terrible situation in Toronto playing behind Bosh. To me CV would have been better served going somewhere like New Jersey which has players that can create shots for CV and get him going. Sad to say, but I think the Raptors got the 'booby prize' the last two years in the draft with Hoffa and CV. On the flip side, I think Bogut will do well for the Bucks and I would go with Chris Paul as the front runner for Rookie of the Year. I think on a talent starved team in New Orleans, Paul will put up some big numbers.
How will Charlie Villaneuva ever get in playing time in Toronto behind Chris Bosch? I mean for the next 10 years.
I really don't think Frye will be a bust. Everybody say this kid is weak, skinny, soft, blah blah....but he benched 185 pounds 16 times. That's not that bad for such a skinny kid. He's also 6' 10 1/2 without shoes, so he'll be almost listed as a 7 footer. I think 12 pts, 8 rebs, and 1.5 blks is pretty reasonable in a few years.
Yes, his upper body strength is quite impressive; surprising, actually. What I'd like to see, though, is his lower body strength. Remember when Yao first got in the league? Weak in the upperbody but he had a firm base. His lowerbody strength allowed him to get position (though his lack of aggression kept him from keeping that position). Channing Frye never gets in good position because I don't think he's got good lower body strength. He never seems to be able to fight for position or really back his defender down. I think he'll be a serviceable center, but will wilt under the lights of NY. Just Loren Woods with a little more offensive refinement.
Here's my prediction for Frye: in two years, he'll be almost as good as... Nazr Mohammed. That's what you get, Isiah, for drafting for a need (center) that you created with lousy trades.
Well, I was just listing a single guy from each draft - the highest pick bust. Otherwise, Skita would've made it no question. Also, Jay Williams was a flop on the court. He was given the job over Crawford before the season, was thoroughly outplayed by Crawford, and asked to go on the IL because he got so stressed out and frustrated over his difficulties. By the end of the year, he was a back up. Maybe he would've rebounded, but on the other hand, he was the can't-miss sure thing that the media hounded the Rockets for not picking. Evan
