Replace LeBron with McGrady and Stoudemire with Duncan and that's probably how it will turn out.

I think T-Mac should be on there for his MVP caliber play after Yao went out but I doubt it will happen.

    First Team:
    C- Amare Stoudamire
    F- Tim Duncan
    F- Dirk Nowitzski
    G- Kobe Bryant
    G- Steve Nash

    Second Team:
    C- Dwight Howard
    F- Kevin Garnett
    F- Lebron James
    G- Tracy McGrady
    G- Dwayne Wade

    Third Team:
    C- Yao Ming
    F- Chris Bosh
    F- Josh Howard
    G- Michael Redd
    G- Deron Williams

Based on his production, Yao deserves a spot on the first team, but I can't put him there because of the significant time he's missed due to injury.

Yao will be hurt too if he doesn't get the best center in the nba this time. Maybe Yao will get back to his usual form sooner than we thought, Yao always takes less time than we think, remember? so who knows.

I'm getting sick of players being labeled as positions they simply do not play.

    amare is a pf, not a c
    duncan is a c, not a pf

simply guarding the other team's center does not make you a center. tim duncan is the very essence of a center, team's biggest, tallest player...always plays in the post. can't believe he's being considered "the greatest power forward of all time". more like he should be the 6th best center of all time. i believe hollinger had similar argument on espn.com.

Then perhaps you would care to explain why Duncan has been the starting PF in 58 of the 61 games he has played this season, and why Stoudamire has been listed as center in every game he has played this season.

Duncan has played the power-forward position for the vast majority of his career. That's why he's considered a power forward. Stoudamire started his career as a power-forward, but has since moved to center in D'Antoni's run-and-gun Phoenix lineup. Shawn Marion plays PF for the Suns now. That's why he's considered a center by so many people.

Can't see Amare ahead of Duncan. Numbers are close but Amare is being spoon fed by Nash, and Duncan dominates both ends of the floor. I believe McGrady will be 1st team especially since Lebron has taken a beating from the media over his inconsistent play of the 1st half. While at the same time McGrady has been getting some due respect for keeping the Rockets on par with San Antonio and Utah during Yao's absence.

I'm not talking about what position they "play" as determined by the PA announcer or All-star balloting, i mean the actual position they play in the game. the reason duncan is considered a PF is solely cuz he came into the league where David Robinson was the starting center for the Spurs, so they stuck him at PF. when the admiral retired, they just kept him there so he wouldn't have to compete with shaq for the all-star ballots. the whole idea that tim duncan is a PF is ridiculous.

Shaq will probably since he's a media darling.

Dwight doesn't shoot that much since he's got no offensive game.

Amare's not really a center, just a pf masquerading as one.

Yao should, but I think Kaman was just too much down the stretch.

Yao will get it as he comes on strong at the end.

Is it? Duncan spends a lot of time matched up against the opposing team's power-foward, even when playing teams with a talented center. I can recall several games where Duncan spent most of his time defending Juwan Howard, rather than Yao, and was in turn guarded by Howard, rather than Yao. The fact that he is his team's tallest player doesn't make automatically make him their starting center. How he plays and who he matches up with both offensively and defensively determines the position that he plays.

No, Duncan is considered a PF because he can play the position and chooses to do so. And he plays primarily next to centers, unless you consider Nazr Mohammad, Nesterovic, Oberto, and Elson to be PF's. You could play Duncan next to Shaq and not skip a beat. You can't say that about Yao.

In today's NBA, players can play multiple positions no matter what their height. Even in the past this was the case, as Magic Johnson could play center while simultaneously being one of the best PG's of all time. If Magic could be a PG at 6'9", I don't see why Duncan can't be a PF. What's the difference between Duncan and Karl Malone besides two inches?

Even though Yao has played extremely well this season, because he missed 32 games and the team went 20-12 without him, he most likely will get s**t on when it comes to the awards. My guess is that Amare will get First Team All-NBA (unless Duncan counts as a center), leaving Yao to 2nd or 3rd Team. Hopefully, the commitees go by stats and team record when voting for the awards because Yao is arguably the best center in the league. I think TMac will be 2nd Team (if he counts as a sf) or 3rd Team ( if he'sconsidered a two guard).

I still think Yao is so far ahead of guys like amare that he should still make 1st team:

    1st Team:
    G - Tracy McGrady
    G - Steve Nash
    F - Dirk Novitzki
    F - Tim Duncan
    C - Yao Ming
    2nd Team:
    G - Dwayne Wade
    G - Kobe Bryant
    F - LeBron james
    F - Kevin Garnett
    C - Dwight Howard
    3rd Team
    G - Gilbert Arenas
    G - Deron Williams
    F - Carmelo Anthony
    F - Chris Bosh
    C - Amare Stoudemire

I think Yao will be lucky if he gets 3rd team again. Especcially missing 32 games.
