I'm not kidding, I had not read the other posts suggesting George Karl.

Guess that shows a lot of people think he is a good coach though.

It's late. I am out of here. Sorry, if I haven't made much sense. lol.

Rudy's my pick. Simply cuz his team beat Pat Riley's head to head in the finals when both of them were coaching very similar teams.

Phil Jackson drops off the list for me cuz any coach that's willing to dump one of the best offenses in the league (see Lakers stats last year) to implement the over-rated Triangle (which hasn't done much better - middle of the pack this year) is egomaniacal and short-sighted.

And the others have yet to coach their teams to an NBA championship.

Has anyone thought about bringing Clyde into the fold? I'm sure none of the players would have any problem with this... Do Rudy and Clyde get along? This seems like the kind of situation Clyde would actually want to coach - a post-up team looking for a slashing offense.

I'm sure they've talked about it (if they haven't, then we're REALLY in trouble). Anyone heard anything about any such talks? I'd love to have Clyde on this coaching staff - if not coaching... (sorry Rudy)

It's not the coach, it's the players...

Phil Jackson won because of MJ.
Pat Riley won because of Magic/Kareem.
Chuck Daly won because of Isaiah
Where the hell is the guy who coached the Celtics w/Larry Bird? Do you even know his name?

    Rudy won because of Hakeem/Clyde.

The best coach in the world can only go so far... He needs the players that can get the job done. period. Rudy just doesn't have the players right now. The sad thing is, it's his own fault because he's the one building the roster.

Rudy would be a better coach if he was JUST coach. He would also be a better GM if he was JUST GM. He needs to choose which to be and do one or the other.

Bird's championship coaches - Auerbach, Fitch, KC Jones.

Anyway, Riley is a better coach than I originally gave him credit for. You can say he won the championships in LA beacuse of the players, but who took the Knicks to the finals against the Rockets? Riley went from Showtime to a tough defensive eastern style of play. This year he's running and running in Miami putting up huge numbers. I think Riley has proven he can adapt to the players, competition and rule changes.

Too many variables determine who wins the championship, but Riley's teams do win.

We all saw how Jackson handled the loss of Jordan. He gave Pippen and Kucok more shots and they did decent. Now he's with Kobe and Shaq. How WILL they win games? Way to accept the challenge Phil.

Think Phil could have coached the U.S.A. team to a bronze with scrubs? Think he would have even tried? I think the Rockets have a coach they can be proud of as well.

The bottom line is that it might be nice for the Rockets to have a better coach, but there's isn't much available that's better than Rudy.

I don't want a college coach. I'd rather have a veteran assistant preferably someone with ties to the rocket organization. I can't come with any names but anyone meeting these qualifications would do a better job than Rudy. I never thought I would say this but Rudy has got to go.
