Calipari. That way we are sure to always get the best players...even if it's a little sketchy how we do it.

Honestly, I just want McHale gone...I don't wanna see another Lowry/Martin situation happening.

0 playoff appearances. Not an X's and O's guy nor a great motivator. What is he good at? I understand giving a guy a chance but this is his fourth year in the NBA coaching and he has done zilch.

Meanwhile SVG, JVG, Sloan are available and proven winners. McHale was a great player but rarely does a great player make a great coach.

I love JVG man. He was so vocal about flopping in last years NBA playoffs, and now they finally have a rule against it haha.

But yeah, he gets my vote if they decide to replace McHale.

lol, at all the people suggesting jvg. lin would be in gundy's infamous doghouse.

jump up in the air and pass to nowhere? aka as the vspan special. get benched for the rest of the game.

not sticking to the defensive schemes? then lose starting position.

would he start douglas over lin? see rafer alston.

Get Head Coach out of the way and talk to JVG!

"I would never comment on a job that was filled," Van Gundy told Yahoo! Sports. Van Gundy made it clear that he would never inquire or leverage for a job where a coach was already in place.

Honestly, if JVG starts benching Lin for lapses in defense, he'd need to bench the entire team. I think JVG is smart enough to know the difference between coaching long time veterans and young, inexperienced players.

And the stuck in the air passes have almost completely disappeared from last year. So not really an issue as he's clearly been working on them.

As for the OP, JVG, Sloan, MacMillan or SVG can't be worse than McHale. Heck, even Scott Skiles would be nice (he's worked with young teams before and is defensively minded).

Personally, I'd rather see McHale go first, then see who's available. You never know who's going to be in play by the time the next season starts...

JVG is a smart coach who understands the ins and outs of the game. He is not a coach who plays by his gut and feelings. He thinks about matchups, the Xs and Os, and defensive assignments. He does not base his decisions on merely the "feel" of the game. He also holds all players accountable. I think even if he did bench Lin or any other player, they would understand because it would be based on something more substansive other than the whimisical "feel" of the game.

As long as you don't hire Larry Brown....that coach has put the paddle on Lin as far as starter material.:grin:I say keep McFail and bring in a solid 4 position. However, the way the team is playing now and the rotations I'm seeing I don't really see the Rockets winning too many games...unless all of them are against Michael's team.
