Actually yes..been coaching for more than 10 years....but only AAU and kids. I do know how to run an offense and defense, and know more zone schemes than I care to remember. But, since this is all a joke...run with it. DD
I would be playing V-Span as the primary backup at PG....yes. And, Novak would be getting about 6-10 minutes a game as well. But, if either of them were playing poorly they would be yanked. Also, Rafer would be shooting FAR less and passing FAR more. I prefer a motion offense, especially with Yao out......but with Yao back, I would still run an offense close to what JVG runs, only I would have far more cutting, and back screens and back cuts. DD
Yep, that some people are satisfied with just getting to the playoffs, while others would rather win it all. Great message ! DD
I voted for you but you must be kidding. As much as I like Novak, he is not gonna get 6-10 minutes a game. You could be more flexible than JVG but how can you ensure 6-10 a game, that is a lot...We need to develop bench depth, we need to ensure the wins too...
See that is where I differ with some, if you play Novak with good players, I think he will excel. Also, put him in a position to succeed, don't make him the primary scorer but rather as the 4th or 5th option. 6 minutes a game is not going to decide the game......that is only 1:30 per quarter....hardly enough to determine a win or a loss. And IMHO, if you don't get him SOME court time he will not get comfortable out there. As an example I would have subbed in Novak in the Dallas game for J-Ho about 6 minutes into the game.....just get him some time on the court....guarding Nowitski, who is not a threat to take Novak down low on the block. And by forcing Nowitski to guard Novak at the 3 point line it opens it up for Tmac and others. DD
With his lackness of defense, the other team can score >15 points in the 6 minutes... Not to mention foul troubles.
I seriously doubt his man will score that much in limited time.......as bad as J-Ho is on defense his man doesn't usually score that much. It is a team game you know. DD
SOLID !!!! But in reality this is about people whining about a difference of opinion. I don't HATE JVG...I just don't think he is a championship coach....and I hope I am wrong...but I just see him as sort of the guy with the cloud hanging over his head......and I also think he is terrible at taking some risks. And, I think to win it all you have to be able to take some risk and manage it. I think JVG is one of the "Avoid risk at all costs" type of coach....and those rarely get the brass ring. BRING BACK RUDY T ! DD
i totally agree. the only reason why JVG is winning this poll is cuz of the millions of internet voters in New York.
I'll take him as assistant. His offense + JVG defense = championship. We have a better team than those Kings. T-Mac+Yao >>>>>>>>>> Webber+Peja. And they won't disappear in the playoffs. We play far better D. They only had a better PG than us, and I'll still take Rafer because of his defense. LOL at the amount of votes for DD+BBS. I wouldn't want a single soul on this board coaching the team. We'd be 10-72 with y'all sorry dudes. Play V-Span and Novak. First off, I remember everyone lobbying for "Start Shane at the 4". That notion was quickly dismissed when it happened first game of the season and horribly outrebounded by the Jazz. Now it's "Play Novak and Vspan". They've both played the same if not more minutes than Lucas before, and I have seen little to no production from either one. Now one bad game from Lucas and everyone wants Vspan to be playing. Rafer gets in a slump it's time to trade him. Here's what would happen with DD+BBS as coach/front office: We would've kept Gay+Swift.....correction, we would've drafted JJ Redick and had Redick+Swift instead. We would've traded Juwan for Darius Miles We still wouldn't get Mike James. Due to Darius Miles larger contract, we wouldn't have signed either Bonzi or Snyder. And the grand reason as to why y'all are real stupid is that a huge portion wanted to trade T-Mac for AI. Our current starting line-up would've been this(with present injuries included) Vspan AI Novak Hayes Mutombo Good luck winning with that
I think the reason Howard's man doesn't usually score that much is that he's playing some pretty decent defense. Rebounding much better this year too. But what do I know. I don't even get to be one of the assistants. I have to stick with JVG...
If you read his scout reports, Novak is a below average athelete and a one-trick pony. Unless he adds a lot more weight and strength to be able to play PF, he's only useful against true scrubs.
