I most rather not be Kyle Williams, if he catches the first punt, the 49ers would have won the game, the SF defense had shutdown the Giants in the 2nd half, at that point, SF was winning the field position game. Cundiff was going to tie the game, not to win it. Evans should feel worse, he had the game-winning TD in his hand, but didnt hold the ball tighter, if you have the TD to go to the superbowl, you have to hold that ball very tight.
Was talking about that late last night. Jacoby doesn't botch that first punt and there's no doubt in my mind the Texans win that game. Single play lost it for them. Williams did it twice, he doesn't go "Full r****d" on the first one and the 9ers win the game in regulation. I also thought without hesitation that if San Fran were to get the ball back in OT they would score, but then a strip later and the game was sealed. Cundiff, my god it's a 32 yarder with no wind. That was a pretty big stomach punch. Lets' not forget the Steelers losing in OT to the Broncos on a total blown coverage on the first play. A team with that many veterans should never let what happened happen. We could have wound up with a Steelers/49ers SB, boy that would have gotten some of the old school football purists interested.
Williams cause the rest of the team played well enough to win. I don't blame him too much for the OT fumble but the one in regulation allowed the giants to score. The niners had the giants shut down completely but that play gave them field position. Niners should have won that game.
