I'm agreeing with most people about melo and ak. While I still hate melo's attitude, though it's changed a bit this season, he's a franchise level player. AK is not franchise level yet, but man he does everything except dominate, and I mean EVERYTHING. Also, the durablity factor goes to melo. Think of it this way, who would you give a max contract to? It's hard to justify making AK the player you build around when he's not going to be the go to guy in crunch time. Melo has that. But take that all aside, I still more of an AK fan cause his name is so cool and blocking shots to me is more fun than making a 15 footer.

These triple double things are overrated. I cannot see that 10 point, 10 boards and 10 assists demand more attention and praise than 35 points and 15 boards.

    Esp in a loss

AK47 = the ultimate ROLL PLAYER
If you have a star on your team of greater or equal value as Melo
    . .you take AK

    If not
    Melo EVERYTIME ALL THE TIME

    If I'm Atl . . MELO
    Rockets - AK47

i can't believe that ak is winning by so much, mello is a far superior player plus he's a proven champion. how could it be so skewed?

I'm honestly stunned Melo is doing as well in this thread as he is. Normally Melo gets bashed pretty hard on this board. I knew you guys would come around. ;)

BTW, my vote is pretty damn obvious isn't it?

It depends. 10 assists means you are actively trying to give the ball to your teammates at the right time in the right situation and those resulted in buckets. You can be a ball hog and get 35 by shooting the ball 35 times.

On that note, I do agree that stats are overrated. It's only a reflection of what a player does on the court. For example, Bruce Bowen is much more important to the Spurs than his stats suggest. Yao is much more of a team player than his assists number suggests. The same thing can apply to AK. His intimidation/disruption factors on the court goes even beyond his block numbers.

I don't agree Anthony is "a far superior player". He's far superior on offense. Everything else, he's not as good as AK. Basketball is more than just scoring, isn't it?

I actually think they are very close, and that's why I made this poll.

I think a lot of people are basing the decision on who would be best for the Rockets. And on whom they like best personally.

AK 47 is a victim of his own hype. Yes, the occasional 5x5 or 10x3 is nice. But 20-10 night in night out is better.

AK47 because 1on1 with Melo I think he would win.

And because I have a mancrush on him.

    lol.

Tough one, but I'd have to say Melo.

Both are the best player on their respective teams.

Both have similar talent around them(and I would argue that Utah now has more).

    Utah has a better coach.

And Denver kicks their ass in the standings.

....therefore so what? There are even fewer players that can do what Ryan Bowen does. Therefore....

    AK47 is a 15 - 8 guy (questionable durability at best)

    Carmello is 26 - 5 guy (durable - 3 years younger)

I know Melo can be a punk, but is this a black/ white thing?

I think the problem is that the question is worded as "Who would you rather have", and people are thinking in terms of the Rockets.

please. Ryan Bowen has less game than Yogi Stewart. :D

    Carmelo,
    1) can't block shots like K
    2) nor can he play D like K (steals)
    3) he doesn't step up his game during contract year like Melo(bring up questions about his play after he gets his money...might go back to his old ways)
    4) better team player

only thing going for Melo is he is a better offensive talent....it's easier to find that in this league than what K brings to the table. THEREFORE, easy decision.

plus his wife lets him sleep with anyone he wishes.
