If he's going to opt out...

Tate, Landale, Whitmore, 1st rounder (top-10 protected), 2nd rounder

    salary still won't work though

While the dollar amounts work in that trade, it still doesn't work in reality, tat trade machine doesn't take into account that teams have to have a roster spot for each player landing on their roster.

Miami currently has 14 players on their roster and that trade has them receiving 4 .... so they'd be short 2 roster spots.

As for the Rockets, I'm not sure I'd give up assets for a 35 year old. I don't believe Butler makes this team a real contender. It's a waste of assets adding almost $10m to an already difficult cap situation.

I'm not including Whitmore or a 1st rounder. As far as I'm concerned, they should give us picks for taking on that salary.

    So, how about this.

Butler and Robinson for FVV, Adams, Jeff Green, and a FRP.

Amen replaces FVV in the backcourt. Brooks comes off the bench with Tari to create the new terror twins. Robinson gives us more shooting. Miami clears their books and adds a FRP.

    Amen / Green / Butler / Smith / Sengun
    Sheppard / Robinson / Brooks / Eason / Landale

Rockets in: Jimmy Butler, Kevin Love, Alec Burks, Josh Richardson

Heat in: Dillon Brooks, Jeff Green, Jock Landale, Aaron Holiday, Jae'sean Tate, conditional pick(s)

Heat save $7+ million, expiring contracts, maybe get lottery protected 2025 pick with PHO swap option and/or future 2nd(s)

    Rockets lineup:
    C: Sengun (32) Adams (16) Love
    PF: Smith (32) Eason (16)
SF: Thompson (32) Eason (16) Whitmore
SG: Butler (32) Green (16) Richardson
PG: VanVleet (32) Green (16) Reed Burks

    Dillion 22.2million
    Tate 7.5million
    Jock 8million
    Reed 10million
    2 first round picks
    47.7 million total
    For
    Jimmy 48 million
We can still have a lot of picks and a deep team
If Jimmy leaves in the offseason that’s 50 million off the books. Not to mention FVV 40 million possibly going away. That’s your young core still together with 90 million to spend give or take some millions.

I don't think there's a way to get there without Brooks.

    yea, salary doesn't work

Brooks for Butler is a lateral move IMO, so big no there

I love Brooks, but that is not a lateral move. Brooks’ TS% is .54 and Butler’s is .65. Butler immediately becomes our primary scorer, where Brooks is currently our 3rd / 4th scorer. You can argue Brooks’ defense is more valuable - which is valid - but it’s not a “lateral” more. The dynamics of the team would change significantly.

Yep, Butler is better at almost everything. I said it's a lateral move in terms of the team. Butler can be very impactful when he plays, and you want to "save" him for the playoffs. The problem is, he doesn't play often. Losing Brooks and having no Butler to play is a significant issue that even a much better player can't overcome, making it essentially a lateral move for the team. His inability to stay on the court is why he's only useful for 1 season. This is why him opting out of his contract is an important consideration - if he doesn't opt out, I wouldn't entertain any offer at all.

They can get Jalen And FVV but we need multiple first round picks in return

I'd assume Tate and Holiday would be spun off for SRPs to a 3rd and/or 4th teams. By deadline, Adams may be worth a SRP or 3 if he keeps progressing. Not sure if Miami deal him for only SRPs, but at that salary....I don't think Miami is getting a FRP.

Well, we can’t realistically trade Jalen this year, so I’m not eager to make this trade since they’d only take Amen, Tari or Jabari. I’d rather bet on Green than tear apart our amazing, young defenders.

Butler is very rebellious and a d******d, even Riley got sick and tired of him. You dont want a POS in here butting heads with Ime and causing drama.

Secondly he is an expiring, why would give up assets for a rental? He is freaking 35 and wants a max deal. T
Remember when Morey traded assets for Cp3 when he could have signed him in free agency in the offseason? Yeah that was dumb AF lets not repeat that.

Third check his health history. He wants to get paid one last time and then chill towards retirement. Stop thinking this is bubble ring Jimmy this is old ass Mr Glass Jimmy.

I'd be interested for Brooks, Landale plus this year's 1st. But even if the Heat would bite, I can't come up with 20 mil more in salary to part with. Also, would not extend more than one year. So yeah, pass.
