Afflalo doesn't have a huge ceiling for improvement but I feel he possesses 2 very important things.

First off, He can contribute now. He has a NBA ready body, has been playing in big games for 3 years and doesn't fold under the pressure. He actually rises to the occasion and carries his team.

Second, I foresee him being what I like to call a "championship guy". The kind of players you find on teams that go all the way but don't standout. The ones that work hard, are mentally tough, and never back down. "Glue guys". The ones with attitude. Such as; Elie, McDyess, or Avery Johnson.

I can see Afflalo as a Ron Harper type player. I feel he brings the toughness we need. Even as a rookie I am sure he will make an impact. Unfortunately he is a tweener, isn't an "Adelman" style guy, and doesn't have a scoring niche on our roster. So I am sure they go with a Fazekas, Davis, Tucker, Or Almond. But Afflalo is special.

Why the hell did I just write an essay? I dunno... I guess I like em that much.

Morris Almond...we need a bigtime scorer off the bench for when TMac or Shane is sitting. Someone who can create their own shot. You saw how stagnant the offense is because nobody can create their own shot outside of Yao and TMac.

Rodney Stuckey...would make a great partner for TMac. Why? Because, like someone said earlier, he's a combo guard. However, he and Luther are very very VERY different. Rodney can get to the hoop, has a midrange game, can create his own shot, and most importantly, he can actually play PG. He's not a fulltime PG at this point in time, but both Rodney and Tmac can share PG duties while the other is used as the SG. Great fit.

I liked Afflalo, but I think him and Shane become a little redundant. He doesn't really fill a hole, he just gives us another Shane.

Byars would be a good fit, but I don't think he's the bigtime scorer off the bench that we need. I think he'd better used as a starter than a bench scorer. If we can deal Shane, then go for Byars.

Dudley and Fazekas are both very unathletic. Our lack of athleticism was exposed all throughout the season.

Sean Williams is a pothead. What good is the 26th pick when it's gonna be behind bars?

I like Sean Williams with the 26th pick. He can block lots of shots which could help Yao out on the defensive end and he's very athletic to catch alley-oops from TMac or Rafer.

I think he falls into the 2nd. He was kicked off the team for smoking pot and other things, he doesnt hustle, isnt a good rebounder, has no work ethic...he's not a winner. He will not, I repeat, HE WILL NOT BE DRAFTED BY THE HOUSTON ROCKETS IN THE 1ST ROUND. Morey will not cause a controversy with his first pick as the Rocket's GM. We can't take this risk after Eddie Griffin. Everyone keeps saying,"He'd be a lottery pick if he had no character issues." Well guess what, he does. Major character issues at that.

i voted Morris Almond but I think if you can be certain Sean Williams is legit and can at least limit the hippie lettuce intake I'd go for him.

Morris Almond...at the very least, the guy could make a living off of his shot. I know you could say the same about Novak, but Almond isn't a human wasteland in the other facets of the game like Novak is.

I voted for Stuckey, but if we could trade Luther or Rafer for another pick, I'd take Morris Almond in a heartbeat. We need youth and athletecism on this team more than anything.

Of that group I like Belinelli. Smooth athlete with a deadly shot, pretty good size and can play the point.

But if we want a point guard from the draft the guy we need to get is Jared Jordan. A sleeper for sure but he is tearing up the pre-draft camp. Led the nation in assists the last two seasons playing on Marist. Imagine if he had teammates to pass to.

    Here's an article

Ranks according to CBS Sportsline. I think it is based solely on stats.
    http://www.sportsline.com/collegebasketball/playerrankings/regularseason

Rodney Stuckey PG/SG 21 years old; 6'4"; 205 lbs. Eastern Wash., Sophomore :Rank 24
Marcus Williams SG/SF 20 years old; 6'7"; 205 lbs. Arizona, Sophomore :Rank 33
Marco Belinelli SG 21 years old; 6'5"; 192 lbs. Climamio Bologna, International :Rank N/A
Morris Almond SG/SF 22 years old; 6'6"; 215 lbs. Rice, Senior :Rank 3
Derrick Byars SG/SF 23 years old; 6'7"; 215 lbs. Vanderbilt, Senior :Rank 74
Arron Afflalo SG/SF 21 years old; 6'5"; 206 lbs. UCLA, Junior :Rank 145
Nick Fazekas PF/C 21 years old; 6'11"; 225 lbs. Nevada, Senior :Rank 2
Jared Dudley SF/PF 21 years old; 6'7"; 210 lbs. Boston College, Senior :Rank 4
Sean Williams C 20 years old; 6'10"; 230 lbs. Boston College, Junior :Rank DNQ
Gabe Pruitt PG 21 years old; 6'4"; 170 lbs. USC, Junior :Rank 543

It is hard to pick a player not knowing what the Rockets plans are as far as trades, free agency etc.

Should we go big or small or best available player.

For the 26th pick, I think usually it is easier to find
small than big or we can gamble on one of those Euros.

I think I would pick Rodney Stuckey, since we need a ball handler and he has a good size. I would prefer him over Gabe Priutt who is thin but fast. I do not like Priutt's FG% and some of his numbers went down from a year ago.

Here is the order I would pick:
    Stukey
    Almond
    Belinelli
    Byars
    Fazekas
    Dudley
    Pruitt
    Afflalo
    M Williams
    S Williams

If we could both of them I would be willing to give up Head too. Almond is a better shooter than him and is taller while Stuckey could be a good combo scorer. The main thing is to get the best BPA irrespective of any position because there isn't much chance of getting a good 4 or a good 1 so late in the 1st round.

I really think we should draft Pruitt or Almond.

I have problems with both Stuckey and Williams

Stuckey - He seems to have had TO and ball handling issues for a few years in college, which makes me worry about him facing better pressure in NBA. We need another PG who can be trusted to handle the ball (not that we really have one right now), and getting a PG who may have other assets but not that one does not seem to be a good idea.

Also scoring wise, he seems to be a volume shooter, which may not fit with T-mac & Yao, and got to the line using more is size than speed or athleticism. Is he a big PG, yes but there are alot of big PG's now in the NBA who he may not be able to do that too.

Williams - He has talent. He has potential. But two things worry me about him. 1) Can he really produce right now? I really don't know about this. Did he work out on his own after being cut or did he just mess around until right about now?

    2) Given our team being OLD, needing athleticism, and us not having had very very few good picks the last few years, we need to draft a player who will for sure produce something. A Bang or Bust pick that late in the 1st when we have no cap space, limited time with Yao-Mac, and no other picks this year, seems like a bad move in general. If we had another pick or more flexibility to make trades or FA this off-season, I'd be behind picking Williams, but not given our current situation. Also given the organizations last few drafts on rating players, do you really think they would be able to correctly see a player who was a bonehead in college would be able to get things together in the NBA?

with stuckey, you have to remember, he was asked to be the PG and also the team's #1 scoring option. he's not a true PG. he's a SG that has some legit PG skills. 5.5 assists on a team without much scoring help is pretty impressive. can he be a true floor general right off the bat? probably not, but he's got a very good overall offensive repitoire and better PG skills than Luther does. i think he'd be a very nice compliment to TMac, so they can split scoring/PG duties together. i'd draft him for a need, but i have almond a little ahead of him because of experience and basketball IQ. remember, almond declared last year and really impressed with his scoring abilities at the predraft camp a year ago.

Marco and Almond look good good...but how can you not go with Byar if he is put on this list...that guy is by far the best prospect on there. Great shooting touch...all the way to the NBA 3...and is a lock down defender...he is a big game player...Byar...if he does slip to us..is the real no brainer.

byars is probably the best all around player. he's good at everything, but he's not great at one thing. his athleticism is good, his shooting is good, ball handling is pretty good for 6'7, his defense is not quite lock down, but he's probably the best defender on the list. i like him as a starter, but not so much as a bench player. unless we can deal battier, i would go with almond. byars wouldnt be put to good use coming off the bench as another backup. we need a true scorer off the bench. i know this explanation doesnt make any sense, but itd be a wasted pick unless battier were traded. unless byars' scoring ability is just way underestimated by me, then i would go with almond. almond can create his own shot and knows how to drive to the bucket and draw fouls.

don't get me wrong, i really like byars, i was the first to pimp him in the draft forum, but we already have battier. i think we need a different type of player than another battier, and i think almond would be more of a difference maker. byars does fit the mold of adelman draft picks like kevin martin and franky garcia though. i just think we need a true scorer off the bench.

Derrick Byars is like Shane Battier? Maybe all the intagible stuff or the hustle, but from the looks of the highlight video, it seems like Byars has more of an offensive repertoire than Battier. Like that step-back jumper he pulled on Corey Brewer (an NBA caliber defender), or the off-the-dribble pull up jumper. I have never seen Shane Battier do anything more than spot up and shoot or shoot a hook shot.
