An International rookie playing the pg position is not going to be good immediately. He needs to grow and the Rockets do not have time with Yao. Also Rubio is not a good shooter and is horrible from the International three which is not as far as the NBA. He will not be able to spread the floor.

I'm really torn on this issue right now. To me, it's definitely between Harden and Rubio.

Harden has been my choice since this rumor sprouted because I feel like we need a true SG on this team to carry some of the scoring load when the offense bogs down. Artest is more of a SF, when McGrady is healthy he's more of a SF, and while Wafer plays like a SG he isn't particularly skilled for the position.

Harden has good enough size (6'5"+, 220lbs) and more than enough length (6'11" wingspan) to transfer his game successfully to the NBA level. He's knocked for a lack of athleticism, but from what I've seen he has plenty. To me, he just plays a little bit more methodical and deliberate than most SG's and that can make him look less athletic. He may not be likely to come down the lane and throw down on you, but he'll find a way to get his shot off, get to the line, and by the end of the night he's got 25 or 30 on you. He reminds me very much of Paul Pierce in that way.

I feel like he has the highest chance to fulfill his potential out of all three of the players I would consider taking at #2, even though I think that Rubio has a better chance (albeit slim) to be a "once in a decade" kind of PG.

In the end, it doesn't matter what I tell myself because I trust Morey. If we get the #2 pick, I will be supportive of whoever he takes.

Give me a true PG anyday, this team lacks a good passer without Tmac here. When Battier is the only guy who can get a post pass to Yao you have to be worried about the passing ability of the team and its PGs

Yeah but the cons will out weigh the pros for the first couple of years. There are International veterans who struggle for a while in the NBA and they are not even playing the pg position. Our pg combo is young and still learning while pushing the Lakers, probably 09 champs, to seven games. Harden or Hasheem would be a much better choice. The guy is not much an assist machine either, you are overrated him. I garuntee you Morey is not trying to get that second pick for Rubio.

Definitely Rubio ... Griffin and Rubio are head and shoulders above the rest of the talent ... unless the Clippers take Rubio ... then Griffin of course ... but I'd think that we'd be after a sure thing in this weak draft.

Yeah, that Tony Parker guy was horrible as a rookie, so was Jose Calderon, we don't want that  There has never been an international PG rated anywhere near this high before he came to the league. So lets not just throw out silly/incorrect stereotypes.

How many games of his have you watched anyway?

Overrated playmaker? I bet you just looked at his stats and say 6? Oh, he's an overrated playmaker. Well if you would have looked a little harder you would have saw he averaged 10 and 6 in 22mins. Which I think is pretty good for a 17 year old.

Tony Parker shot just above 41% his rookie year and got better over the years with his overall game. Calderon average less than 10 points and with around 5 assist his first couple years. He was good but it time to adjust while be older entering the NBA. There are more failures than success stories so one player means nothing.

I have seen around 4 games and know he can't spread floor which is want this team needs. He is going to take a few years to mold into a good player. Yao can't wait forever, we need players who can contribute immediately. I have no doubt Rubio will become a much better player than Brooks but not in the next two years.

Morey giving up on Yao and looking to the future with the 2010 free agency is the only reason why I see the Rockets picking up Rubio. But that is just making a risky gamble.

Well, not to get greedy here but if we acquire the 2nd overall pick and stand only one pick away from potentially getting Blake Griffin, then that is where my attention would shift. What would the Clippers want from us to swap the #1 and #2 picks?

I have little interest in anybody else at this point. I'm not patient enough to wait around for Rubio/Thabeet and, yeah, James Harden is probably looking like the best fit, I just have a hard time believing that for a team that hopes to immediately contend for a title that we're better off with a rookie in Harden than just simply bringing a healthy McGrady back into the picture. At least for the immediate future.

Bolstering the front court and safeguarding ourselves against another Yao broken foot takes precedence, IMO.

He is the best PG in this draft, head and shoulders above the rest and he is not even 20 years old.
I love our PG tandem, dont get it twisted though. There are huge raps on Rubio for a reason, he may not be great in his first couple of years but this dude has basketball insticts and incredible floor vision, somthing you cant teach!!

We have our shooting PG in Brooks, but dude cant pass or create to save his life.

    Rubio!

He is the starting pg for the spain national team. Calderon is his backup!

As already stated if we are looking for the future then I have no problem drafting him. I am not sure if we are going to accomplish anything with Yao so we can set ourselves up for 2010. Yao's game is not based on being athletic so he can still contribute in a few years IF healthy. I just think it is a gamble. Either way I won't be upset bc I trust in Morey.

Yep regardless it wont happen, I dont believe we will be getting the 2nd pick. But if we did I still think Rubio would be the guy, unless somehow The Clips picked him then Griffin would be my pick.
Guys like Thabeet would be a bigger risk then Rubio IMO.

I'd trade down for a combination of signed player/s, multiple draft picks, and dump bad contracts (eg, Cook).

With the lower draft picks I'd choose either Ty Lawson if there's a late lottery-mid first round pick, or Tyler Hansborough if the pick is mid to late 1st round, or Pat Mills if it's a late late first rounder, and Nando De Colo with a second round pick.
