I agree 100 %. I think I hardly ever drive without calling someone an idiot or something worse. I don't really get into a rage, I just like insulting people while I drive. They don't see it either, I just say it about them, while talking to myself. Sometimes I need to watch myself not to do it when I have other people in the car, though .
Although psychological analysis is never shunned, I think that if calling someone an IDIOT is out of your realm of reality, why even contribute to this thread? There are many more out there that require "professional" attention. I've done it before and felt a lot better afterwards. TraJ's is personally my favorite.
That's why you have: 1. supplemental insurance 2. a varied investment portfolio 3. a generous amount of money in savings 4. health insurance I don't have to worry about that. I'm not going to lose my job because in the journalism business, there are rarely layoffs, only firings and you have to do something damned stupid to get the ax. I actively take responsibility for my life and health and that of my family and I advise everyone else to do the same. I'm just not happy that so many people in this country are like the grasshopper and demand that the govt. take from me and other hard-working people (the ants) to do something they are unable or unwilling to do. I've worked hard all of my life and I think that others do not have a right to claim the fruit of labors to pay for things they should take care of themselves. Govt. should not be in the business of enforced charity.
You do realize that many people live paycheck to paycheck, right? A lot of people can't afford regular insurance much less supplemental insurance. A lot of people can't afford to put away money for their portfolio or savings. If you want to blame them for not getting a better job, fine, that's your perogative, even if I disagree. But how in the hell can any person with a conscience or heart, which I'm not sure you have, say that their children should be **** out of luck? For your sake, I hope Karma's not reading this BBS.
Sorry, didn't mean to turn it into a D & D duke fest. And as for me calling Mike Tyson an idiot, like I said, I'd run away like a scared girl.
You know better than this one. If you are in need of medical attention on an emergency basis, the hospital cannot turn you away. They can bill you, but if you don't pay it they cannot repo your health.
BTW, Refman, I wasn't referring to you. Well, I don't think. I completely understand you, also. I would just hate for bamaslammer to have to abandon his principles if the lives of one of his kids was at stake.
I'm tempted to say those who spend ridiculous amounts of money on clothes, cars, and other silly status symbols. Then again, I have no problem forking over $20 for a freaking comic book every now and then. Guess we all have our vices...
