I heard someone talk about a

    Curry / Heinrich / ERob / JYD

    for

    Cato / Francis

I'd have to take a look at this for sure.

Nobody is stupid enough to give up pierce for francis. If we even offered a trade that was francis for peja, sac would roll on the ground laughing. The only good players that we could probably get for francis is someone like Vince Carter (but that might be a stretch too). And then trade mobley for a good point guard.

According to Gm trader this would work...

Houston trades: PF Maurice Taylor (11.9 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 1.3 apg in 28.2 minutes)
PG Steve Francis (16.8 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 5.9 apg in 39.8 minutes)
Houston receives: PF Drew Gooden (11.9 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 1.2 apg in 28.5 minutes)
SG Tracy McGrady (27.1 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 5.6 apg in 39.6 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +10.3 ppg, +1.5 rpg, and -0.4 apg.

Orlando trades: PF Drew Gooden (11.9 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 1.2 apg in 28.5 minutes)
SG Tracy McGrady (27.1 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 5.6 apg in 39.6 minutes)
Orlando receives: PF Maurice Taylor (11.9 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 1.3 apg in 44 games)
PG Steve Francis (16.8 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 5.9 apg in 49 games)
Change in team outlook: -10.3 ppg, -1.5 rpg, and +0.4 apg.

    TRADE ACCEPTED

So now all we have to do is send a million letters to T Mac begging him to force this trade.

    P.S.
Notice how Mo Taylor and Drew Gooden have almost identical numbers...weird...

    T-Mac would be perfect.

He can flat out score, looks like a much better shooter than Francis. He's so much taller he's definitely more atheletic. Most importantly, he has the instinct and the unselfishness to pass for his teammates to score. Also, isn't T-Mac yonger? We can really build a dynasty with Yao and T-Mac here in H-town. We're just dreaming, Orlando won't trade T-Mac.

There's tons of talents out there much better than Drew Gooden.

He can't shoot, he doesn't have the skills to be a good team player. I watched four straight possessons where Gooden get the ball, and just foolishly trying to go to the hoop for his own points, and of course he's going to get stuffed. Did not see a single pass out of him. He's just a another selfish me first guy without having the atheleticism or skills.

How about Paul Gasol for SF? He's perfect for the Rox.

While we're at it, why not get Jason Kidd at point guard.

    Here's my dream line up:
    PG - Jason Kidd
    SG - T-Mac
    PF - Tim Duncan
    SF - Paul Gasol
    C - Yao Ming

    How about this?

    PG - Hinrich
    SG - Mobley
    SF - JJ
    PF - Rasheed
    C - Yao

Both Yao's and Mobley's games would take off, because Hinrich and Sheed are both accurate passers, i.e. they usually don't result in turnovers.

the key question that keeps running thru my head when trying to work out what i would happy with in return, is what is Steve really worth... and further to that in all the current players in the league on max contracts... where does Steve fit in the rankings???

    Lets rate his worth...

Francis + 21/6/6 w/3.7 TO (in iso mode) = good lead guard

    What could we get? Hmmm....

    Wait...I got it!

Francis + 21/6/6 w/3.7 TO + ESPN Highlights, Two time All-Star, and points/slaps backboard when he dunks = Superstar!

Wow! That really makes him seem a lot better.

So, it's all in the promotion. The packaging. The product. You know? The same way politicians do it: Lie about the facts. ;)

Come to think about it. Maybe we shouldn't mention the 3.7 TO rate...heh...

A-ROD :D Seriously, though if we got Odom he'd fit perfectly and could even play some some SF

    ODOM/Jackson
    Mobley/Pike
    J.Jackson/Boki/Odom
    Mo/ Weather/Cato
    Yao/Cato

My take is kind with Clutch. If a trade were to go down this year, I would be shocked and it would be big too. I look for the Rox to make a run and see how it pans out. If the Rockets make the playoffs and get past the first round, experiment proven correct. Is the rockets get smacked out of the first or do not make it, then look for some wholesale changes if possible. IMHO, just making the playoffs is not good enough for Les and JVG!

Arenas and Brown would improve this team IMHO
Okafor is the next Tim Duncan type player IMHO--good post moves with tremendous defense. This guy is smart, is a great athlete and can leap. I would trade for a chance at him combining it with another trade to get a servicable point guard who can feed the two big man...

My question is when is Bobby Jackson going to be available and get picked up....how could we swing that deal

    Ming
    Okafor
    JJ
    Cat
    Jackson

this would be interesting in 2-3 years

I can't believe you guys are even thinking (albeit hypothetically) about trading Steve Francis or Cat and we're not even at the all-star break. Francis will have you all eating crow in due time.... :p Dude's got sick game

One: Dirk and Antoine are both statistically better rebounders than Cato.

Two: When did MoT become some dominant low post scorer? It can easily be argued that Jamison and/or Walker are just as good.

Three: I don't think you will find anyone that claims SF is better than Dirk, and you will get much debate about even saying SF is DEFINITELY better than Finley or Nash.

Four: I'll give you that we play better D and can be more balanced, but we are not consistently more balanced than anyone. To say we are deeper is also questionable.

To even suggest that, even on paper, we are a better team than Dallas is highly questionable-look up our record against the Mavs the last 2-3 years and the margins of defeat.

Thats all crazy... from the way Juugie talks it sounds like we've been handing the Mavs big losses forever.. but if my memory serves me correctly they been kicking our butt for awhile.

I agree giving the Mavs a true center would make them instant contenders and maybe favorites but depending on who. I bet they would trade for Cato in a heart beat that would bring them some toughness and rebounding true..

But in no way are we better than the Mavs. They're players are string in every position except center.. *the way I justify this is would I trade a player on their team for someone on ours that plays the same position. Yes I would.

I think its hard for us to be unbiased about the value Francis since were all rox fans.

Actually a b-i-t-c-h would say exactly what you just did...funny how people have balls to say anything when hiding behind a computer screen.

lets say, Steve Francis, Pike(or Nachbar), Cato(or Taylor) and mid-level exception - For - Heinrich, Chandler, and A. Davis.

sounds good but don't know if that would work under the rules.

but if I'm dealing with Chicago those are three guys I would push hard to acquire.

Francis+Pike+draft pick for Stoudamire & SAR.

That way We solve Portland's PF logjam problem. Portland has Ratliff (blue color rebounder/defender, Francis (Penetrator), Miles (Slasher), Pike (Spot up shooter), and Randolph (dominant post scorer).
We solve our own problems: PR issue w/ Francis, a more true PG to give feed the post to Yao, another scoring threat w/ SAR who can rebound, JJ (do it all defender, scorer, and rebounder), Mobley (shooter and and penetraor). Kato backing up Yao to grab rebound when Taylor is on the court.

FYI - There's this minor little detail called a salary cap. Perhaps you've heard of it? Without getting too technical, it basically says the Rockets can't take in $30 million dollars in contracts and only send out $14m. We couldn't touch your deal if we doubled our $7m trade exception. :D
