although i like karl's old school ideology (thanks to dean smith), i don't think the rockets players would adapt well to the extreme change from rudy's coaching regime. i think JVG is a good balance b/w discipline and a player's coach. karl, on the other hand, doesn't really give a rat's ass what you think about him.

George Karl? You mean that sumo wrestler who's faking an NBA coach? I'll cut him some slack though. I'd rather have him as JVG's assistant coach. Karl can do a good job intimidating the refs with his fat, humongous body. All because he praised Yao "plays against people with a lot of size, like Wilt Chamberlain did."

Actually I was making fun of Iverson's "practice" quote, but I agree with you. :) Why are we even talking about him?

You know, I voted for Van Gundy without any hesitation.

But 3 years ago, I'd have voted for Karl. I think his Sonics teams always overachieved, and I'd always chalked that up to his ability. His teams in Seattle showed promise that was never fulfilled.

I think he just sort of boiled over, and after that... became a distraction to his own team. Sad really, I think he could have been one of the great coaches in NBA history if he'd been more emotionally stable.
