I dunno. I go downtown on average every weekend, but unless I lived there, why would I drive all the way downtown for a nudie bar. Unless it's Mons Venus-esque.
The only problem i see based on having a business here, maybe it's a bit different for the clientel of a nudie bar, but we have parking issues down here. Honestly when you think about it, the nudie bar might make a killing if it was only open for lunch and they did their buffet thing for all the business people and stuff. They might also get a lot of traffic from people who want to go to a happy hour and do want to go to a nudie bar. As far as getting the business at night, by bringing them downtown to go to it. I don't think it would do that well. of course a bar like myself or a club is different from a nudie bar in all aspects and of course they have much more draw. If they were able to find a location with a parking arrangment then they would hit the jackpot. We have enough trouble getting people down here at nights because of the parking as it is. but once again the draw of a nudie bar brings a lot of people out. True there are more residentials places downtown but the occupancy rate is crappy right now. All these lofts will haggle with you and lower their price just to get some warm bodies in there.... I really think they need to build some damn retail area for people to shop and stuff down here so there isn't just clubs and restaurants... i mean we have all these hotels down here and no one stays in downtown cuase they all drive to go shopping at the galleria and stuff. They get rooms here and leave the area...and we lose business.
Well, there's the mall downtown (The Park Shops), but there are problems: 1) Rent in the mall is too high 2) Not very good visibility 3) Not on the main strip (though very close to both stadiums) If the rents were lowered and if they woo'ed some nice stores to go to the Park Shops, they could really bring in business. Look at Foley's - their downtown location has been in business since the dawn of time.
yeah for sure...i was more inclined to talk about the Main Strip area where there are all these empty lots and buildings..but the rent is ridicoulos and it will be hard to bring them in without some kind of interevention or big time company putting money up to build them out.

I'll be interning in downtown for the summer so.. I guess I quality as working downtown for the moment at least
