Wonder who's pitching for The Angels tomorrow? Lackey Colon Santana can't and Washburn is still sick or something. Who else do they have?
I do agree, Nick, with you that both the Yankees and Red Sox had some major flaws but I do take umbrage at your "zero quality starting pitching with the exception of Wakefield" statement. Clement was an all-star UNTIL he got hit in the head by Carl Crawford; he was never the same after that. David Wells actually gave the Red Sox more quality starts than anyone else (I would gather more than 50% and possibly more than Wakefield). Schilling, well we won't talk about him... I mean, yea, the Sox's offense clearly carried them to 95 wins but you still have to get some pitching to win that many games, especially considering how tepid the Red Sox bullpen was. Actually the Red Sox big problem was that they did not have a true #1 starter all season like the Schilling of last season or Pedro. Hell, they didn't even have a guy who could get hot and pitch like a #1 in Derek Lowe. And you have to have at least one (preferably 2 or more) of those guys if you want to go deep into the playoffs.
