i'm gonna have to disagree with that call of on cano. live it looked like he might've been inside but on the replay all of his steps were right on the line. on his last step, he hit the middle of the bag, but what else are you supposed to do? you can't step on the outside of the bag b/c you'll break your ankle. i assume even people who get well within that box step on the middle of the bag b/c you have to. cano wasn't out of the line and it's not his fault the catcher threw it from the outside of the bag to the inside. bad call in my book, and i think i'd prefer the angels win just in case the stros make it to the WS so we don't have to face a $200M dollar lineup.
I just tuned into the game and was curious since the announcers keep saying how Santana's been pitching well since the 2nd, what happened to Bartolo Colon?
Man, i'm loving this sports overload we have had over the past three days -- UT - OK, Astros!, NFL/ Fantasy Football, Yanks - Angels, Pitts - San Diego (fantasy football)...
The idiots on ESPN today (those day time shows) were all rooting for the Yankees becaue it's bad for baseball if the Yankees and Redsox are out. Hell, Dick Justice was on PTI and said that too. I hope the Yankees lose. Astros WS champions 2005. Ofcourse people will use that excuse that the Yankees weren't in it, like when the Rockets won.
I don't think so. The Yankees aren't that great of a team anymore. They haven't won in 4 years (5 if they get bounced out this year). They are nowhere near the level of the Bulls of the 90's.
And just like that, the 2 richest teams in baseball are out of the playoffs. ChiSox - Angels should be an interesting LCS, assuming Colon is healthy.
The 2 richest teams were also the ones with some major flaws compared to the ones that will be playing in the LCS. The Red Sox had ZERO quality starting pitching with the exception of Wakefield... and they had a spotty bullpen, at best. The Yankees had an underacheiving Randy Johnson, a rookie pitcher, an aging Mussina, and a quality starter in Chacon. Trying to buy a championship in the form of aging veterans works fine... until they all start to break down physically. Both teams need young arms... homegrown arms. Where are the Roger Clemens' 20 K games for the Sox? Where's the 21 year old Andy Pettite pitching in the Stadium?
Alex RodrÃguez, what a choker in the post season. Can't hit a single thing when it counts. Look at Derek Jeter, now everyone knows who is the better player.
no joke lol yeah agree with nick though earlier yankees need to get back to the basics that won them 3 WS in the late 90's ... and it won't be with the pitching staff that they've got now certainly
