Felt the question needs to be asked because by now Houston sports fans should know the way this thing will go. First Watt got jobbed, then Harden. The next one is most likely going to be Altuve.

So, which player will the national media fawn and slobber over and basically hand the MVP award to instead of Altuve? Any guesses?

Right now, Adam Jones has been performing better offensively than Altuve and is a much better defensive player than Altuve. The season has a long way to go.

Oddly, one of the other best-player-in-the-AL right now is also a second baseman - Devon Travis of the Jays. They are both having great seasons in different ways (Travis has more power but doesn't steal bases).

Nelson Cruz is having an incredible offensive season so far as well.

Seriously, I get the angst over Harden, but Altuve is not the best player in the AL right now and it's still very early in the season.

Lorenzo Cain leads AL-position players in WAR (Altuve is 7th). Meanwhile, Miguel Cabrera & Mike Trout are continuing to be like LBJ, you could pick one of them every year.

Some guy named Dallas Keuchel leads all of MLB in WAR.

I don't think he is either..... but it really isn't very far fetched. He is the best player on the team with the best record in baseball. He plays second base and is coming off a season leading the league in batting average, steals and hits. This year he is off to another great start.

Would I vote for Altuve for MVP right now? No but he is a legitimate candidate at this point.

The best player on best team argument doesn't work in baseball. The Yankees had one mvp over a 15 year stretch of dominating the American League despite having guys putting up monster years. Baseball really tries to get the best player overall that is in a good team

kinda tired of the butt-hurt Houston diatribes. We are a blue-collar town; we should be used to having to earn every penny and having nothing handed to us on a silver platter.

Oh, and Curry *deserved* MVP. Harden had an MVP-caliber year for sure, but them's the breaks.
