Green doesn't contribute enough to winning basketball to be high up on the ladder. If he could help get his team into the play-in like Wagner, Giddey and Cade he'd be higher on the list.
Man... given some of the insanity I've seen so far, some of you would have taken Parsons over Kwahi and Valančiūnas in a re-draft after their rookie season.
Detroit and Orlando have a worse record than the Rox so how are Cade and Wagner helping their team into the play in or contributing to winning? Wtf. OKC has like 1 more win than the Rox, none of the players you mentioned are gonna be in the playin this year.
Was being sarcastic. Green is playing about on par as most of these rookies but is the only one penalized for his team "losing". The only reason Barnes and Mobley appear to be "better" is because they're playing next to All Stars caliber players. Winning cures all. Booker was a loser forever and Tatum was the second coming. Now it's reversed. Barnes is alright but anyone who'd take him over Green in a redraft is an idiot. At least right now. I still think drafting him over Suggs was a mistake. It's betting more that Suggs will bust rather than Barnes will succeed.
Both of them are defensive players, they were defensive players when the Cavs and the Raps were losing tons of games as well. Records changed but they are still the same players, maybe more experienced now. Both of them ranked high in that ranking early on as well. This draft should be okay, some players like Kuminga take longer to develop. I don't think the Top 15 will be full of All Stars as advertised though.
this will be Mobley…it’s not even up for debate as far as this season so far, Barnes and Cade round out the top 3…next tier is Wagner and Giddey…then after that tier I’d put Jalen Green, Duarte, and the rest
I am curious though... why does ROY even matter? It's a meaningless award that has zero actual impact on a rookie's career or their team and fans.
None of these awards really matter. We watched Jim (along with Steph) reinvent the NBA Offense as we know it. How many MVPs did he get? Just the one. He was second time after time because every year they changed the parameters. First it's wins. Then it's stats. Then it's triple doubles. Jalen I find very unusual because there's rarely been a time I've seen a *rookie* inspire as much vitriol as Jalen has. He doesn't really get into trouble, reacts well game to game, defers to veterans and does what he needs to do when his name is called, is athletically miles ahead of anyone else in his draft class and yet....there are a lot of people out there that just kinda hate him. It's so bizarre. He inspires this hatred from people that reminds me of...well James. The key difference is that James I understood why some people were put off by the way he could manufacture points. Jalen doesn't really do any of that. Go look at that ROY ladder where that dude put him at 7th and almost every rookie had something positive written about them. Except one. Just like Harden before him...it's about wins. Until it's not. It's points. Until it's not. It's defense. Until it's not. I undersand Jalen's shortcomings physically and defensively right now. He should not be in the lead for ROY in my opinion. But he should not be behind Franz Wagner, Jonathan Kuminga, Josh Giddey, Duarte or Cade Cunningham.
As much as some of us would like it 2 b Green. It's quite obvious Mobley will win it. He's putting up great numbers, and is helping his team get into playoffs. This draft class is quite talented though ngl.
It is not Green that inspires the vitriol it is his Jeremy Lin style fans. "Why doesn't Green run the PG" "Why is Jalen frozen out in the 4th quarter" "Sure KPJ made that shot but Green was open" It is 100% the slobber mongers that are ruining things..... Everyone is a Jalen Green fan, and a Rocket fan here - but it is AAF to see all these people whining about Green not getting the ball, or some such even during wins. Same to a lesser extend for Sengun.....just cheer for the ROCKETS !!!! DD
Lol, explain why he has the highest PPP among rookies, yet the lowest # of touches. At some point, maybe in a couple of years if he develops the way he has been, it's not a stretch to see the offense run through him or at least to see him as a #1 scoring option.
Who ****ing cares? Isn't that good that he is doing so well with the touches he is getting? His usage rate will go up as he earns it......glad he is a Rocket, as are all the other guys on the team. Maybe he will become a star, maybe not - let's just enjoy the ride and quit stepping on other players when someone's WOOBIE doesn't get the last shot, or enough touches, or whatever....just enjoy the development of all the young guys. DD
Lol there were exactly 4 people who voted Mobley when this thread got bumped and now he's up to 30 votes. Original Mobley voters take a bow.
Watch Jimbo with the Nets and you would see that the media and fairweather fans have been quieter than usual. One of the reasons he was also 'hated' was that the Rockets rarely got love throughout history, and even when Dream was playing. The Rockets are just not a franchise for everyone outside of Houston. Got used to it to be honest.
Heh yeah. It's almost like when the Yankees and Sox were winning titles, their misdeeds were kinda glossed over but the minute the Astros won....
Haven't watched much bball outside of Rockets this year, but from what my lil bro tells me who lives in OKC, Giddy is that dude! ... He won't win but he looks the part.. But to answer the question, I'd say Cunningham... He's gonna have a statistically good 2nd half to the season
