FWIW the premise of this thread wasn't to bash Joe but rather to facilitate a discussion. Like I said I was excited to pick up Joe

Joe's game if more reliable than Josh.

    Josh = Green.

8 games vs 50+ really isn't a fair comparison. I strongly believe Johnson's biggest value and impact is going to be in the playoffs. I could be wrong but I feel like D'Antoni and Morey know this as well.

I agree with you, kind of.

First: we expected different things, at the time, we needed more from Josh Smith than we need here with Joe.
Second: I think they work with him, and I kind of see they try to do Boris Diaw Suns 07 things with him. So I´m still giving him time. They give him space at the low post like no one else.

Concrete answer: Joe Jhonson, just because we aim higher with him

I'm sorry but I just don't see JJ having a big impact in the playoffs. He's a step slow on defense and his offensive game has regressed significantly. Just seems like we acquired Iso Joe a year or two late. He doesn't deserve minutes over GG or Ryno when he gets healthy.

Not sure if you're being serious, but there's no way the Jazz get past the Clippers last year without Joe.

First of all, if the Rockets are healthy, JJ ain't getting much playing time.

Secondly, Josh Smith was huge in that 2015 postseason run. He saved the Rockets in Game 2 vs the Mavs when Dallas was in control most of the night. He and Brewer led that 49-18 run to close out Game 6 in LA. And he came up huge in Game 4 vs the Warriors to avoid the sweep.

JJ better be legendary this postseason to top what Smith did.

Gobert was carrying them in that series and it's not even close.

CP3 would've averaged a very efficient 30+ PPG on them and gotten them past with ease if not for him.

All the small wing player abuse Johnson did, Hayward was doing and could've done more of. Much, much more replaceable than Gobert.

You're correct in that Gobert was the main engine that got the Jazz to victory but they don't win that series without Johnson. Like non.

Your first point is actually interesting and I'll admit I never thought of it that way. JSmoove was needed as a sort of a 3rd musketeer-lite to the Harden-Howard combo (a little "big 3" if you will).

Whereas J. Joe is more of a luxury (really speaks to how stacked we are as a team quite honestly)

Remember we wanted Jsmoove to get in as a Starte. We were in the middle of the Tjones/Dmo wars. His contribution was big, but our plans are bigger now.

I´m following ISO joe and find it interesting because how different to the others he is allowed to play. His relationship with D´Antoni seems to grant him the ability to do some things others are not allowed or fit to do. The only other person that I saw down low working so many seconds is Boris Diaw. I always perceived Amare as a roll guy.

So I´m giving him some time and see if his play unlocks some other options for us.

Proper context is Smoove had a moment in Rockets playoff history that will forever be immortalized. Will ISO Joe have his moment?

I' kinda still in wait and see mode BUT I understand the frustration at times with his lapses on the defensive end. Id say give home a few more games under his belt by another 5 or so hopefully he good to go
