my favorite sheila jackson lee quote was when they were talking about the pathfinder trip to mars...she said, "oh..will they be able to go back to where the astronauts planted the flag."

    "ummm. sheila...that was the moon."

she is WAY too divisive to ever win a national election...without a specially carved out district, she'd be looking for a new job

Exactly, if she tried to run in any other district, she would get destroyed. I think that it is awfully convenient where her districts lines are made.

hmmm...Is it better to have someone who thinks about sex every 7 seconds (OK, 6 sec, I admit) in the office, (not to mention the frustration if you don't have the right Monica); or is it better to have someone who possiblly menopausal? :p

Screw it, Senate Dole will tell you: There's always some Viagra. :D

    Mrs. JB,

Don't forget that there have been many women leaders in many different countries, empires, etc. throughout history. I don't recall biology being a serious impediment for any of them in running their respective domains.

Uh ... thanks for the reminder, but I don't think I'm the one that needs convincing. :)

this is perfect. ... chivalry. now we've finally assembled all the requisite Victorian elements for our own little Jane Austen novel.

and to think I gave CPR to this thread because I wanted to make a stained dress joke. somebody ban me please.

My favourite part of this thread so far is the utterly logical 'there's never been a woman US president before, so history proves a woman couldn't do it' argument. T_J, keep on truckin'!

Please, please, someone say: 'I don't trust anything that bleeds for a week and doesn't die'. Go on. I dare ya. ;)

How can you tell if the president is on the rag?

    She's only wearing one sock.

For the record, I think a strong woman would make a great president.

I would have no problem voting for a woman if she was the best choice. I wouldnt vote for her just because she is a woman and I wouldnt vote against her just because she is a woman. I would evaluate her just like any other candidate and if she was qualified and I felt was the lessor of all the evils being presented (which is how all voting evaluated now), then she would definitely get my vote.

Vote based on competence and ideals, not gender. Don't be fooled into thinking a woman would be better (or worse) because of her womanly views. Remember Margaret Thatcher.

I like the bit about the lesser of evils :)

I feel honored to be added to your signature. No one has ever done that for me. So I would like to give a victory speech. And because speechs are heard and not read, you can not know what my speech is all about, but rest assured, it is good and complimentary.
