HEY someone took my answer Samson! the guy was big and above average in highschool was lost in college now he's going pro.... huh?
YAO MING will probablly be the biggest bust....at least for the early part of his career. So the guy is 7'-5", he's also, what, 270 lbs? Great size, but I know at least 6 or 7 centers and some beefed up 4's that could break this beanstalk off frontwards and backwards without as little as a sweat (for a few years anyways, that is....I'll give his potential some credit). Now, I know everyone is high on this guy, and trust me, I really want to see him succeed, but has anyone actually witnessed him play? High stats are there, but they are against 2nd rate players, that are decent, at most, but aren't anywhere near the level of competition that the NBA has to offer. How will his transition to stiffer, stonger, and WAY better competition be? Finally, do you really think Ming will have the confidence and the attitude to play with some of the big boys of the league? I think that will be his largest weakness for maybe the first 4 or 5 years. NBA bullies are going to push this guy around, ridicule him, and gun after him every single night until he learns some toughness and an attitude that comes with it!!! .......but, if I were the Rockets, and had the opportunity, I'd still draft him.
I dont see anything special in Jared Jeffries. I mean, Daniel Leach outplayed him in the games agianst Oklahoma and Maryland. Ming is too tall, with too many skills to be a BIG bust.
Thought this was interesting... from the "Caught on the Fly" section of this week's Sporting News: <I>"With the NBA Draft, it's all about potential, potential, potential, which is why Qyntel Woods figures to get a new lid from David Stern a coupla nanoseconds after Jason Williams and Yao Ming. But jumping from juco to lottoland isn't the only thing he has in common with Kedrick Brown. Translation: Q's jumper and handle need work -- and his new team a lotta patience."</I>
