For those with ESPNU, you can watch Mark Appel and Stanford take on Arizona State in a matter of minutes.

Mark Appel vs. Arizona State: 7.2 IP, 5 H, 3 R (2 ER), BB, 13 K And the victory, as Stanford topped the Sun Devils 5-3.
Interesting. Gray looked to be getting ahead of Appel and now Gray goes mediocre while Appel throws what may be his best game of the season. It's going to be close!
This has all the makings of a 2012 repeat. Whoever signs for less could make the difference. Obviously is one player is clearly better you take him regardless, but these 2 almost seem indistinguishable.
Common sense I know, but I'm starting to think it's going to come down to who will take less to save money for an above slot signing later on, much like Correa did last year. With Appel still being represented by Boras, we (as fans) may be looking at Gray for 1/1.
would you say that the emergence of this strong top 4 or 5 has heightened the top of this draft to very strong rather than the junkfest/mediocre-fest that it was projected to be heading into season?
The top group is starting to distinguish itself from the rest of the pack but that happens every year. It looks to me like it may end up being on par with last year's draft or slightly better. It's definitely not an all-time strong draft class.
I'm just glad these pitchers are finally looking like they may be worth of No. 1 pick. Sure they may not be a Strausburg, but would really just settle for a top of the rotation starter that you count on for quality starts.

I just wish he was a lock to be a decent defender at third. The fact that he doesn't have a set position makes it tough for me to get 100 percent on his wagon.
Yeah I'm not completely sold on one player. I guess I would be fine if we pick either one of Appel Gray or Bryant
