Created this account during the rockets vs lakers. but didn't start posting till last week. Was automatically put to lurker, not that i really care. Just being honest.
The first person D&D regular not named basso who posts in his duplicate troll thread to which he just added a chum-bucket of race bait loses the prize. Edit: rimrocker your penalty is to have to read/view any articles/videos that the bassmaster puts up for 24 hours.
Dam! not 12 hours and we're already into phase two. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah): "I will focus on determining whether Judge Sotomayor is committed to deciding cases based only on the law as made by the people and their elected representatives, not on personal feelings or politics." Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.): "We will thoroughly examine her record to ensure she understands that the role of a jurist in our democracy is to apply the law even-handedly, despite their own feelings or personal or political preferences." Charles Grassley (R-Iowa): "The Judiciary Committee should take time to ensure that the nominee will be true to the Constitution and apply the law, not personal politics, feelings or preferences." John Cornyn (R-Tx.): "She must prove her commitment to impartially deciding cases based on the law, rather than based on her own personal politics, feelings, and preferences."
I was listening to Sean Hannity on my way home last night, and that is all he talked about. He was claiming she is the most liberal pick ever. It amazes me sometimes the things that they say and people take as fact. Obama had way more liberal judges on his short list. Sotomayer was a fairly safe pick. The Republicans desperately wanted a far more liberal pick, and someone that was an easy target. The more and more I look at it, I think this pick was absolutely brilliant by Obama.
Maybe Hannity needs to take a look at today's WSJ (subscription not required) Record Shows Rulings Within Liberal Mainstream Despite Democratic Bent, Judge Has Sided With Corporate Defendants; Court's Frequent 5-4 Split Likely to Remain
Did anyone hear Charles Barkley congratulate Sotomayor last night for being a new Supreme Court Justice on the post-game commentary? You've got to love the genius that resides in the Obamabots. Not only did he absolutely butcher the pronunciation of her name, but she is definitely not on the Court at this point.
The President said this during the campaign... Later, he said this... And of course, the President who said that was Ronald Reagan.
Ronald Reagan would barely recognize today's GOP. Pretty amazing to consider his political skills next to Palin, Limbaugh, and the congressional clowns.
They are a contrived joke. The right's guys get on and act like conservative activists. They just try to clothe in the guise of going back to the original constitution which just happened to be set up for wealthy white property owners. Legal realism: What is consitutional is whatever the current S. Ct. say it is.
This looks like a great choice by Obama. She brings a lot of knowledge and experience that is needed to the SC.
