I voted for Sotomayor. It was a tough decision between her and the woman from UTexas. Maybe she can be next.
Is the drill here to find the most qualified Justice? Or to find the most qualified Latina justice? Seems like the latter, from the looks of this pick...
Nevermind the fact that Sotomayer has more experience as a judge than any current SC justice had when nominated.
That is such a load of BS, consistent drumbeat my ass. One writer from the New Republic says it and then it bounces around the Right Wing talking head echo chamber. These people who haven't actually looked anything up about her other than the previously mentioned New Republic article are suddenly experts who we should listen to? Whatever. This is probably Bush Loyalist revenge for Harriet Miers, a nomination that even everyday right wingers thought was stupid. Keep questioning her intelligence, we'll keep pointing out that she has more experience as a judge than any nominee in a 100 years to go along with her degrees from Princeton and Yale.
Oh please. Keyes is Class A crazy and Steele falls into the same category except he's a little more polished. Clarence Thomas was a low level apparatchik who happened to luck into his position only because Thurgood Marshall died. He has done zilch to distinguish himself on the court. And thank God we were spared Gonzo being the first Hispanic on the court. After looking at his performance as Attorney General, it's easy to imagine the damage he would have done to the court with his fealty to W. Regarding Condi, who could have predicted she'd be so ineffective? She can't even defend the administration's record in front of elementary school kids. The criticisms of those people have nothing to do with race and everything to do with competence.
Affirmative action may play a part in getting you into school, but it does nothing to make you a Summa c*m Laude grad.
They aren't even criticisms of the original writer, he was just predicting how the whole thing will play out. In the original blog post he points why each claim is a fallacy. And if you think this guy is just some liberal blogger, notice he goes to bat for Clarence Thomas.
I didn't think it was possible to smell fear through the internet. T_J, you may have made medical history. UPHELD
Yeah, because graduating at the top of the class at Princeton isn't "quality" to the guy who graduated middle of the pack at Rice. NO CRED
how many spainards voted in the last election? most people with origins in spanish speaking countries already voted for him in 2008.
