Its gotta be Yao. I am not sure about t-mac's back will allow him to play full 82 gms next year and even if he does play it all, his bad back will affect his performance. On the contrary, yao showed that he can put up 25+ pts and 10+ rebs a game during the late stages of last season. Yao ming is starting to hit his prime and can only get better. The Rockets must win it NOW!!
I don't think some people are even reading the question. this is a hypothetical question that assumes tmac being COMPLETELY HEALTHY. we aren't questioning if tmac is going to be healthy in this thread. that being said...of course a healthy tmac is better than a healthy yao. how is this even a question? tmac can guard almost anyone on the perimeter. he can shoot from long range and mid range. he can always create his own shot. he can create for other players easier than yao can. also, a healthy tmac will take the ball to the hole much more often and won't settle for jumpers. yao will get more rebs and he will be more efficient, but he can't score in bunches and do the things I mentioned above better than tmac. yao is an extremely intelligent player but he simply doesn't have the physical gifts tmac has if tmac is healthy, which he won't be.
I voted for T-Mac. For a few reasons: 1.) The Primary Defensive ability will be shared between him and Battier. Freeing him to be more of a playmaker. 2.) He has something to prove after the injury. 3.) Unlike Yao, T-mac can handle the ball more and that allows him to dominate easier. 4.) With Novak and then maybe James he will see less double teaming. In the End.... I want to see Yao and T-mac hand in hand like Clyde and Hakeem... with a ring. Fierguard -Celebrating 20 years of bleeding Rockets Red.
t mac will probaly be on a strecher most of the season so im gonna say mike james.Yao will be solid, but will be tripple teamed most of the time.
But my question is, if T-Mac is healthy, what is the best way to keep him healthy? And the answer is, by not putting too much stress on his back. Which we can do by asking him to take on a secondary, Scottie Pippen role. This is why I voted for Yao, despite preferring T-Mac.
Yeah assuming both are healthy T-MAC is a better player and may win us more ball games but importance wise they're both equal because of their impact. In the end who cares since we have both
With Yao's performance of last season, I noted that he has solved his mental problems i.e. he realised that he must be responsible for the whole team and he must dominate the court to release all his teamates.Didn;t you all notice that that he has been more confident after ASG?
